Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa. – After a 6-3 win over Otterbein on Saturday, the John Carroll University women's tennis team (12-6) finished with a 1-1 record over the weekend, falling to No. 9 Carnegie Mellon (17-3) 8-1 on Sunday in Pittsburgh.
 
The Blue Streaks began singles action, played simultaneously with the men's teams, behind 3-0 and were unable to catch up, as the Tartans claimed wins at the third and second singles flights to secure the match victory.
 
Despite the outcome, junior Lauren O'Malley, ranked No. 19 in singles, continued battling No. 34 Cori Sidell at the top flights. Sidell claimed the first set 6-3, but O'Malley pushed the match to a third set with a 6-1 set-two victory. O'Malley held a 5-2 advantage and sealed the 6-2 set victory after a long rally.
 
John Carroll will next play Marietta and Ursuline on Ursuline's campus on Saturday at 1 p.m.
