Box Score 2 The Blue Streaks performed well in all facets of the game to come away with the non-conference sweep against Hiram.
The stout defense for the Blue and Gold, plus a stellar pitching effort, led to only six hits surrendered by the Blue Streaks in both games of the doubleheader.
Game 1 - John Carroll 5, Hiram 0
A strong defensive effort gave the Blue Streaks the opportunity to open the door late in Game 1 to secure the victory.
With stellar pitching by the starting pitchers, both teams were held hitless through three innings of play. JCU threatened in the top of the second when Hiram walked the bases loaded, but the Blue Streaks were unable to capitalize on the opportunity.
John Carroll got in the hit column in the top of the fourth when junior
Nikki Geringer singled, followed by a double by the sophomore
Elizabeth Fraas. The Blue Streaks got on the scoreboard when Junior
Quinn Sobieszczanski managed to hit into a fielder's choice to break the tie and give the Blue Streaks a 1-0 advantage.
After a missed opportunity in the fifth with the bases loaded, the Blue Streaks struck for two runs in both the top of the sixth and seventh to solidify the Game 1 win over Hiram.
Fraas began the sixth inning with a walk, followed by a Sobieszczanski double to the wall in center field. Sophomore
Miranda Noday then followed with a  two-run single to left field to bring the JCU lead to 3-0.
In the seventh, after Geringer and  senior
Jennie Broski both reached base on errors, Fraas took advantage with an RBI single scoring Geringer. Sobieszczanski capped the Blue Streaks scoring with a RBI fielder's choice to score Broski to extend the lead to 5-0.
Madison Eagle was able to come in for the Blue and Gold and slam the door on the Terriers only allowing one hit without surrendering a run in her two innings of work.
Kelly Geringer, who started the game, finished only allowing one hit in five innings of work, while recording three strikeouts.
Game 2- JCU 11, Hiram 0
Game two was all John Carroll as the Blue Streaks managed to come away victorious in just five innings of play.
The game took an early swing in favor of the Blue Streaks when JCU managed to tack on six runs all with two outs. In this two out rally, John Carroll managed to string together five consecutive hits to take a 6-0 lead in just the first inning.
Joining the hit parade in the first  for the Blue and Gold was sophomore
Lauren Ogurek, senior
Maggie Gannon, Broski, Fraas and Sobieszczanski, who all recorded base hits with two outs.
After tacking on six runs the Blue Streaks would never look back offensively. John Carroll managed to score in three out of the remaining four innings to reach the run rule against Hiram. In all JCU managed to tally 13 hits in just five innings of play.

Lauren Ogurek, Noday, McKnight and Sobieszczanski.
Along with the Blue Streaks offensive attack was some stellar defensive play as well. Sophomore
Jenn Patterson headlined the John Carroll defense that only surrendered four hits and zero earned runs in the five innings of play.
With the win John Carroll now advances to 14-15 overall and 7-9 in the OAC. Hiram moves to 9-22 overall with the loss.
Next up for the Blue Streaks, they will travel down the street to Case Western for a doubleheader on Wednesday, with first pitch slated for 3:30 pm.
