John Carroll traveled to Granville, Ohio, Wednesday night looking to continue their start-of-the-season win streak in a non-conference game against Denison University.
The turnover bug traveled with them as well.
The Big Red forced 24 John Carroll turnovers, negating a decent shooting night for JCU as the Blue Streaks fellf or the first time this season, 67-50.
Denison took an early lead over John Carroll, scoring 16 points to John Carroll's 10 in the first quarter. The Blue Streaks continued to trail throughout the second quarter, only putting up nine points to Denison's 19.Â
At halftime, John Carroll trailed Denison 35-19. On offense,
Dani Carlson lead the Blue Streaks with seven points and
Olivia Nagy with six.
Nicole Heffington lead on defense with six rebounds.Â
Despite going on a six-point scoring run to start the second half, the Blue Streaks could not keep up with Denison's offensive efforts throughout the second half.
As a team, JCU shot 8-15 (.533) in the third quarter to outscore Denison, 19-18, but it was not enough to make up the 16-point halftime deficit.
On offense, Nagy lead with 12 points, followed by Heffington with 10.
Sarah Sprecher lead the Blue Streaks on the boards with eight caroms.
John Carroll looks to bounce back this Saturday at 2:00 pm against the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on Saturday at 2pm
