The Blue Streaks had the depth advantage in their first two meets of the year, but this time, the flippers were on the other foot. The 18th ranked Case Western Reserve Spartans used waves of top notch swimmers and divers to knock off 48th ranked John Carroll, 198-91, Saturday afternoon at Veale
Natatorium in Cleveland, Ohio.
Results
John Carroll had three event victories, and all three belonged to
Gwyn Ledrick. The junior fashioned a first place finish in the 100 Breast (1:05.39), the 200 Breast (2:22.33) and the 200 IM (2:09.97).
Her time in the 200 breast is third best in Division III this season, while the 200 Im is 12th best.
Some Blue Streaks just had a tough customer to deal with today.
Maddie Panus was a four-time runner-up this afternoon, swimming on two second place relays (200 Medley, 200 Free) and finished second in both the 100 (1:03.02) and 200 (2:16.88) Backstroke. Caitlyn VonFeldt swam the 27th fastest time in Division III this season to beat her in the 100 and the 24th fastest in the 200.
Ashley Lynch was the runner-up in the 200 Free (2:00.52), as was
Ynyra Bohan in the 200 Fly (
2:17.97).
The Blue Streaks' "A" Relay had its fastest time of the year in the 200 medley Relay in finishing second. Panus, Ledrick, Tori Vale and Gwyn Hamilton went 1:51.65.
In the 200 Free Relay, the "A" relay was also second, consisdting of Panus, Maddie Dolce, Emily Yoos and Hamilton. Their time was 1:43.73.
