Three days at the Ocasek Natatorium at the University of Akron were well spent for the John Carroll University women's swimming & diving program.
Through much in the way of trial and tribulation, the Blue Streaks brought back to University Heights their third consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference title and their 19th overall.

The John Carroll University women's swimming and diving team entered day three in first place of the OAC Championships with 554 total points as a team, 69 points more than second place Mount Union (485).
The Blue Streaks would finish the night ahead by 77 points. John Carroll University landed on exactly 800, followed by Mount Union at 723, Ohio Northern at 636, Baldwin Wallace at 560 and Wilmington at 248.
Day three kicked off with the Women's 1650 freestyle and the Blue and Gold only had one qualified competitor, sophomore
Paige Wnek. In the lengthy race, Wnek's time of 11:37.59 placed her 11th.
In the 200 backstroke, the Blue Streaks had numbers in their favor. Junior
Felice Ferrante led the JCU crew finishing in fourth place with a time of 2:12.33. Just behind Ferrante was freshman
Katelin Avenir, finishing in fifth place with a mark of 2:14.78. Sophomore
Amanda McGreer's time of 2:16.51 placed her eighth.
Elsie Connell helped out by winning the consolation race in 2:16.64.
Olivia Talamo successfully defended her title in the 100 Free with a winning time of 53.63. Sophomore
Hope Scherger finished in fifth place (54.490 and just behind her was junior
Shelbi Shearer in sixth (54.53).
In the "B" final,
Kyleah Gaydos added to the point haul with a tenth place showing (55.83) as did
Emily Yoos in 12th (56.48)
For the second consecutive year, sophomore
Gwyn Ledrick claimed victory in the 200 Breast. She broke her own record, setting the new conference standard of 2:19.17 which was also an NCAA "B" cut. Senior
Chloe Ruggiero finished second place with a time of 2:23.78, claiming All-OAC status. Rounding out the scoring in the event out was sophomore
Samantha Nagy, notching fifth place with a time of 2:30.68.
In the 200 butterfly, JCU had one lone swimmer in junior
Maddie Dolce, who finished in third place and earned All-OAC status with a time of 2:16.08.
Earning All-Conference honors with a third place finish in the diving competition was sophomore
Chloe Pozderac.
Capping off the weekend, the JCU women won the 400 relay. The quartet of Shearer, Scherger, Dolce and Talamo won in 3:35.98, almost two seconds clear of the field.
At the end of the night, Ledrick was awarded the OAC Women's Swimmer of the Year Award, marking the first time a Blue Streak had earned the honor since Julia Adams in 2012.
