Wednesday Night's All Right For The Blue Streaks In Rolling To Their Ninth Consecutive Win

It had been a while since John Carroll had to travel to play on a weeknight.

63 days to be exact.

The last time was December 4 at Mount Union. John Carroll won that night, 78-65.

Tonight, the Blue Streaks won as well. JCU took the lead and ran with it until the end of their match-up against host Heidelberg tonight, taking the game by a final score of 61-42.

First to score was Nicole Heffington with a jumper, and she continued to stay hot by finishing with 16 points to end the game. By halftime, she led the team in points (7), rebounds (6), and assists (2).

Olivia Nagy started the team's scoring off for the second quarter by making two free throws, ending the first half with six points. She was another all-star of the game, ending with 12 points, seven rebounds, and a team-leading six blocks.

The Blue Streaks had a 20-8 lead by the end of the first quarter, and led 38-18 at half.

Dani Carlson led the team in rebounds with eight and Jaylen Hoffman tallied three steals.

As a team, the Blue Streaks 29 tallied defensive rebounds compared to Heidelberg's 18, and 11 assists compared to the Student Princes' five.

With this win, JCU advances to 18-2 overall and 12-1 in the conference. The 18-2 mark matches the best 20-game start in program history (2014-15) and the 12-1 record in conference play is the best 13-game start, topping the 11-2 marks from 1992-93 and 2014-15.

John Carroll also held an opponent to 50 points or less for the 11th time this year. For perspective, JCU accomplished that feat five times last season when it won the Ohio Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles.

The Blue Streaks return to the DeCarlo Varsity Center to take on Capital University on Saturday February 8th, at 3:00 p.m.
