JCU Women's Lacrosse to travel to Florida over Spring break
The sunshine state awaits the Blue Streaks. John Carroll will travel down to Clearwater, FL for Spring break next week to compete in two contests; Monday March 2 at 10:00 AM against Emerson College and Wednesday March 4 at the same time against Neumann University. Following their trip, the Women's Lacrosse team will wrap up their 2020 Spring break by traveling to the College of Wooster on Saturday March 7 at 1:00 PM.

The Blue Streaks will enter their Spring break contests at an even 1-1 overall. After a barn burner at Don Shula Stadium against Kenyon College where JCU fell just short (20-22), they rebounded well on the road against Wittenberg by a score of 25-12. Senior and current OAC Player of the Week, Colleen Grombala has been the back bone of the JCU attack this season. Grombala leads the Blue and Gold in goals (12), assists (4) and points (16). Sophomore Alex Heishman supplements the John Carroll attack with the second most goals on the team thus far with six. Moreover, fellow sophomore Jenna Ginsberg has been the another facilitator along side Grombala, as she has assisted on three goals (2nd team) and scored three herself. She is tied with Heishman for the second most points on the team with six.

In Florida, Emerson College will be first up on the slate for JCU. The Lions are yet to play a game in the 2020 season, as John Carroll will be their first contest. It has been tough sledding as of late for Emerson. The Lions are winless in their last two seasons, with their last victory coming on April 19, 2017, a streak of 28 consecutive losses. Historically, JCU and Emerson have played once before when the two schools clashed in Englewood, FL with John Carroll prevailing 9-8 in double overtime.

Nuemaan University will be up next for the Blue and Gold in Florida. The Knights are also yet to play in 2020 as their season will commence on Monday March 2 against Otterbein, before playing John Carroll that Wednesday. A season ago the Knights tallied 11 wins and 9 losses before their season came to conclusion after a loss to Drew University (23-10) in the ECAC Tournament. This meeting marks the first time the two institutions will play each other.

Rounding out the Blue Streaks Spring break is a contest back in Ohio at the College of Wooster. The Fighting Scots are primed to be John Carroll's toughest test over the next week as they put together an impressive 16-2 record including 7-1 at home from a season ago. Last season, Wooster concluded their season on a loss in the NCAC tournament championship game at Denison 13-10. Saturday will mark the second meeting all-time between the two schools with the only other contest residing with the Fighting Scots (6-14) last March.

After spring break Oberlin College will be next up for the Blue and Gold. The match is set for Wednesday March 11 at 4:00 PM in Oberlin, OH.
