Women's Soccer Speeds Past Muskies in OAC Opener

NEW CONCORD, Ohio -- The OAC October started on a great note for John Carroll University Women's Soccer.

In the first Ohio Athletic Conference contest of the fall, the Blue Streaks fired up the offense for a road win.

In an evening affair at Muskingum, the Blue Streaks tallied three goals in the second half to secure a 3-0 victory.

From the opening whistle, the Blue and Gold came out attacking. Brittany Dufalla fired the first shot on goal in the 7th minute, and the shots kept coming throughout the half. Macey Malinky also helped to kickstart the attack, sending several shots on net.

Muskingum had a few opportunities, but nothing major. Meanwhile, JCU kept peppering the net with shots.

At the break, the Blue Streaks enjoyed a 10-2 margin in shots and a 4-0 advantage in shots on goal.

After being denied several times in the second half, the Blue Streaks would not be rejected in the second half.

Gabriella Walter broke through in the 53rd minute. Off a Kennedy Newhart assist, Walter tabbed her second goal of the season for the Blue and Gold. Newhart's helper was her first of the fall campaign.

The Blue Streaks kept the pedal to the metal, and were rewarded again in the 74th minute. This time, Grace Monnin buried a beauty. The Blue Streaks held a commanding 2-0 lead, and would not relent.

In the 84th minute, Lizzie Woo added the cherry on top. The freshman found the back of the net for the first time of her career, getting an assist from Monnin.

At game's end, the scoreboard stood with a 3-0 JCU win. The stats also tell the story, as JCU outshot the Fighting Muskies, 23-7, including 7-2 on goal.

Danielle DelGiudice kept the clean sheet, making both saves cleanly.

With the conquest, John Carroll advances to 6-4-1 on the season. JCU heads to Alliance, Ohio on Wednesday to do battle with Mount Union.
