"It was great because the energy on the pool deck today far surpassed the energy last week," said Head Coach Tanner Barton. "It was great to watch the team come together, race, and get their hand on the wall first.

The day started on a positive note with the 200 Medley Relay. Spenser Kale, Ashley Lynch, Monica McKie, and Anna Glass combined for a victory to open things up with a time of 1:53.62. The "B" squad also raced well, as Maddie Panus, Allie Geletka, Danielle Turi, and Audrey Prisby combined for third at 1:57.68.

The 1000 Free was a Mount Union win, but Lauren Spence got points. The junior recorded a third-place effort with a time of 11:46.60. Madeline Jarosz notched fourth at 12:10.28.

Anna Glass got JCU back in first with a time of 2:00.97 in the 200 Free. She won the race by nearly 4 seconds. Kyleah Gaydos also hit top four, with a time of 2:08.81.

In her first meet of the season, Monica McKie showed out. The junior conquered the 100 Back from the outside  with a very impressive time of 1:01.70. Gwyneth Hamilton earned bronze with a time of 1:03.51.

Ashley Lynch kept the train rolling in the 100 Breaststroke. The West Mifflin, PA native clipped a time of 1:13.31. Geletka clicked for third with a time of 1:15.38.

"What's great about Ashley is the breadth of her events," said Barton. "She's a sprint freestyler and won the 100 Free, but this year, we've also been leaning on her to swim Breaststroke. So she was the Breaststroke leg in our medley relay and she dominated the performance in the 100 Breast. I can confidently put her in any event and know she'll do her absolute best for JCU."

The 200 Fly proved to be a dynamic 1-2-3 sweep. Danielle Turi led things off with a winning time of 2:21.44. Rachel Halapchuk followed it up with a time of 2:24.23. Bella Genise wrapped things up with a third-place finish of 2:25.30.

John Carroll earned a victory in the 50 Free, as Glass broke through for another victory. She touched the wall at 24.99. Hamilton snatched the bronze with a time of 25.67.

The Blue Streaks took a lead into the first diving break, and extended it further with the 1M diving. Catherine Steinwachs won the day with a team score of 177.10. Kathryn Visco followed in second with a tally of 158.60. Sarah Hanlon penciled in a 135.10 for fourth.

Ashley Lynch kept things rolling after the respite with another conquest. The junior collected first in the 100 Free with a time of 55.25.

John Carroll did not win the 200 Back, but the hosts did notch second through fifth, led by second and third-place finishes by Halapchuk (2:18.98) and Audrey Prisby (2:21.68). Mount Union also won the 200 Breaststroke, but Geletka finished second in the event with a time of 2:44.56. Spence snagged third in the 500 Free that followed, timing in at 5:38.24.

McKie returned to the forefront again in the 100 Fly. The Buffalo native thrived with a time of 1:01.45, collecting big points for JCU. Turi also scored nicely with a third-place time of 1:02.76.

"Monica had a few great events: the 100 Back and 100 Fly were great," said Barton. "We focused a lot on Monica's underwaters, so it was great to see her use those in addition to her actual strokes."

JCU went 1-2-3 in the 3M diving, with Steinwachs, Visco, and Hanlon earning the sweep. Steinwachs earned the W with 191.10 points.

Turi achieved another win in the 200 IM. The sophomore clocked in at 2:22.01. Annamarie Habusta acquired second place in the event, coming in at 2:24.80.

The day concluded with a victory in the 200 Free Relay. Lynch, Hamilton, Halapchuk, and Glass combined for a time of 1:41.36 for the win.

With the win, JCU advances to 1-1 on the year. Next up is the Kenyon Invitational in a couple weeks.
