UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio -- The Blue Streaks continued their perfect season as they defeated the Ohio Northern Polar Bears 186-111. The John Carroll University Women's Swimming & Diving team stayed hot in the William H. Johnson Natatorium, as they celebrated Senior Day before the 186-111 victory.

The Blue Streaks celebrated their seniors with an impressive class led by Gwyn Ledrick, Sophia Izzo, Hope Scherger, Olivia Talamo, Tori Vale, and Paige Wnek

Head Coach Tanner Barton was proud of the six seniors on the festive day.

"Today was a special day as we celebrated our eight seniors," said Barton. "They have been fantastic leaders and their contributions in and out of the pool haven't gone unnoticed."

The day started off with a win in the 200 Medley Relay with a win from the A relay with a time of 1:53.83. The team consisted of Spenser Kale, Gwyn Ledrick, Tori Vale, and Gwyneth Hamilton. The B relay snagged second with a time of 1:55.71.

"Gwyn Ledrick had quite the day," said Barton. "Her victory in the 200 Freestyle was an impressive swim and we're excited for Gwyn to compete in her final OAC Championship."

Barton enjoyed the energy in today's meet.

"The energy on the pool deck was at an all-time high today.  Our staff and student-athletes were smiling, laughing, dancing and cheering.  What we have happening inside of our natatorium is special."

Lubinski won the 100 Free for the Polar Bears as well (55.33) with Anna Glass coming in second (55.41).

Paige Wnek won the 500 Free with a time of 5:42.15, and her teammate Lauren Spence was right behind her with a time of 5:42.54. Wnek made a huge late push to take home the victory.

The Blue Streaks finished the day with a triumph, and second in the 200 Free Relay. The A and B relay placed first and second with times of 1:43.71 for the A relay, and 1:48.10 for the B relay.

The Blue Streaks' next meet is the OAC Fast Chance open meet on March 6.

"I'm excited to compete as a team in the OAC Championship," said Barton. "But we know that now is not the time to pump the breaks. We must keep working hard until we begin to taper."
