Blue Streaks Bounced Twice in Hard Fought Double-Header

| By:
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Ada, Ohio -- John Carroll Softball (4-8, 4-6 OAC) met their match this Saturday afternoon in Polar Bear (7-5, 6-4 OAC) country. Blue Streaks drop a close game one to ONU 10-8.

JCU jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, thanks to an Emma Gurley sac bunt, and Mallory Stonebraker two run single.

Stonebraker continued to rake the ball with a solo homerun in the third to extend the Blue Streak lead to 4-2.

Gracie Bressoud took a page out of the Mallor Stonebraker book, by knocking a two-run homerun of her own in the top of the fourth pushing JCU ahead 6-3.

John Carroll added an RBI single by Kasyn Scarantine in the fifth and an RBI triple from Bressoud in the seventh.

However on this Saturday afternoon, a strong offensive showing was overshadowed by the Polar Bears offensive prowess. ONU tallied five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and the Blue Streaks were unable to fully recover.

Bressoud and Stonebraker paced the Blue and Gold with three runs batted and a homerun each.

Scarantine collected three hits on the day, with Bressoud, Stonebraker, Lauren Sienkiewicz and Crista Nativio each talling two hits a piece.

Ohio Northern only narrowly out hit John Carroll with 13 hits to 12.

In game two, the Polar Bear bats were simply too much for the Blue Streaks yet again. John Carroll drops a tough game two, 10-2 in five innings.

Emma Gurley made lightning strike twice, by driving in another first inning run out of the gate to put JCU on top early.

Ohio Northern yet again put up a five spot in the bottom of the inning, unfortunately making it an insurmountable lead for John Carroll to overcome.

In the top of the second inning, Lauren Sienkiewicz jolted a solo homerun making the score 5-2 Polar Bears.

However the Blue Streak bats cooled off in the latter half of the contest, only mustering up four total hits to ONU's 13.

Bressoud, Scarantine, Jesberger and Sienkiewicz were the Blue Streaks to record hits in game two, by recording one each.

The double header scheduled for Sunday between these two teams has been postponed due to scheduled inclement weather.

John Carroll will seek to get back to their winning ways from a week ago, on Monday March 29 in University Heights with a single game contest against these same Ohio Northern Polar Bears.
