Women's Soccer Drops Regular Season Finale to Wilmington

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio -- In the regular season finale, John Carroll University Women's Soccer fell at home.

The Blue Streaks dropped a 3-0 loss to Wilmington, ending the regular season at 4-4-1.

The entire first half was filled with defensive stops. The first goal of the game didn't come until under 30 seconds left in the half off of a corner kick from Abby Spirk, which led to Tiffany Hayes scoring on a bang-bang play.

There were a total of 13 corner kicks, with John Carroll having five and Wilmington having eight.

Coming out of halftime, it seemed like the same game style, as both sides held each other off the board up until the 73 minute mark, as Wilmington scored another goal, this time by Taylor Huffman from close in the box.

The final score of the game came at the 80 minute mark by Payton Watson, off of another corner kick by Taylor Huffman.

Goalie Danielle DelGiudice notched 14 total saves, which is now her career-high as a junior. Her last career high was 13 saves, which happened back in 2018 as a freshman.

Despite all 14 saves by DelGiudice, the Blue Streaks fell to the Fightin' Quakers with a final score of 0-3.

The Blue Streaks head into the OAC Tournament sitting at .500 and in sixth place in the OAC.

The Blue Streaks will be traveling to play this Tuesday in the OAC Tournament Quarterfinals. The opponent is to be determined.
