Box Score MEDINA & MAYFIELD, Ohio -- Erratic spring weather has led to a helter-skelter schedule for tennis in Northeast Ohio so far in 2021.

Despite the schedule changes, John Carroll University Women's Tennis is off to a good start.

Playing doubles at Mayfield Racquet Club and doubles and singles at Paramount Tennis Club in Medina, the Blue Streaks bested Capital University, 9-0. John Carroll advances to 2-0 on the campaign with the victory.

Doubles started off the day at Mayfield. The No. 1 doubles spot was one of the highlights of the day, as Megan Reese and Skye Harwood fiercely dueled Maria Sadek and Kelli Wright. In a down-to-the-wire battle, Reese and Harwoord emerged victorious, with a long volley puncuating an 8-6 triumph.

Mia Zivkovic and Alyssa Krupp teamed up at No. 2 doubles. The freshman-senior duo tabbed a well-earned 8-2 win. Jaclyn Voss and Emily Day combined for an 8-0 victory at No. 3, completing the doubles sweep for JCU.

Reese performed quite well again for the Blue Streaks in singles competition. The Massillon native tabbed a 6-4, 6-1 victory to open things up at No. 1.

Krupp clashed with Kelli Wright at No. 2. Wright slid past Krupp, securing Capital's lone win of the day with a 7-6, 6-4 conquest.

Zivkovic tallied a victory at No. 3 singles, rolling past her foe, 6-0, 6-1. Harwood also catapulted to a nice win, 6-3, 6-2.

Voss and Day rounded things out for John Carroll at No. 5 and No. 6 singles. Voss completed a win with a razor-thin margin of victory, 6-4 and 7-6. The Mishawaka, Indiana native earned the win with a great effort. Day took care of business, as well, but won by an easy margin, 6-0, 6-0.

The Blue Streaks had originally scheduled Muskingum for today at 4:30 pm, but weather did not allow. The Blue Streaks and Fightin' Muskies will try to play each other this week, weather and schedule allowing. Either way, JCU's next scheduled match is at Mount Union on Sunday.
