UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Katie Hine has been selected as Associate Athletic Director, Operations as announced by Senior Director of Athletics Michelle Morgan.

Hine has served as the Director of Athletics for Orange City Schools since 2017.

"I am thrilled to welcome Katie aboard," Morgan said. "Katie brings excellent experience to the position. Her previous professional experience, including her time as an administrator and head coach at the Division II level, will be invaluable. Katie will be an indispensable asset for our department and I'm excited to work with her."

Hine will have a multitude of roles and responsibilities at John Carroll, including compliance, budgeting, facility scheduling, travel management, gameday coordination, and serving as a bridge between athletics and other campus departments.

Hine has over a decade of experience as an athletic administrator and as a coach at Catholic institutions, and over the last four years, she's worked at the high school level.

Hine has guided Orange City School Athletics for the last four years. She authored a strategic plan and COVID-19 response plan, and started the school's strength & conditioning program. Hine researched, negotiated, and implemented campus initiatives such as an online ticketing system with HomeTown Ticketing, a Nike apparel contract with BSN Sports, and event streaming with Boxcast. Under her guidance, Orange captured three state championships and one runner-up title, won 7 Chagrin Valley Conference Championships, tabbed 7 CVC Coaches of the Year and a state MVP, and hosted CVC Swimming & Diving and Track & Field Championships.

Previously, Hine worked as a coach and administrator at Notre Dame College. From 2011-17, Hine served as head coach of the NDC Women's Basketball program, adding a dual role of Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) and Associate Director of Athletics in 2013.

As head coach of the Falcons, Hine produced a 98-73 overall record. Her 6-season stint was highlighted by back-to-back 20-win campaigns in 2014-15 and 2015-16, including the 2015 Mountain East Runner-up trophy and win over Division I Cleveland State in 2016. Hine garnered the 2017 Mountain East Coach of the Year award.

Among her many roles as an administrator at Notre Dame, Hine reviewed and revised department policies with Title IX and Gender Equity; managed football game day operations; nominated for all NCAA and national grants, awards, and scholarships; and oversaw the department's year-end FESPY Awards. Hine led the school's Hall of Fame committee and Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), also serving on other committees.

Before her time at NDC, Hine coached at Wheeling Jesuit University. A 2007 graduate of the Jesuit institution in West Virginia, Hine became an assistant women's basketball coach in 2007, spending two seasons in the role. In May 2009, Hine was elevated to head coach, notching a 24-33 record over two seasons. In 2017, she was inducted into the Wheeling Jesuit Hall of Honor.

Additionally, Hine earned a M.S. in Athletic Coaching Education from West Virginia University in 2010.

Hine has a passion for working with college students. Since 2019, Hine has worked as the Assistant Director of Summer on the Cuyahoga, a program that promotes college students from partner colleges to experience internships, housing, and programming in Cleveland for the summer.

"I would like to thank Michelle Morgan and President Miciak for the opportunity to be the Associate Athletic Director at JCU," said Hine. "It is an honor to have the chance to work within an athletic department which has elite coaches, well-rounded and successful student-athletes, and a rich winning tradition."

Hine is a Northeast Ohio native, as she graduated from Mentor High School in 2003. Hine played basketball for the Cardinals.

Hine's first day at JCU will be July 19.
