UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio -- The John Carroll University Sports Information Department is bringing back a Wenzler Warrior.

Ryan Tyransky '18 has returned to John Carroll as a Sports Information Assistant.

In this part-time role, Tyransky will provide assistance on gamedays, especially with statistics keeping.

"I am extremely excited to be back at JCU, where everything started," said Tyranksy. "I'm excited to improve upon the strong foundation that Chris left. Joe [Ginley] and I worked together in the past as undergrads, so we have good chemistry."

Tyransky knows John Carroll well, as the Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin grad worked four years as a student in the John Carroll Sports Information Department. Tyransky developed into a leader during his time with the department, eventually becoming a sport captain.

After working for the late, legendary Chris Wenzler '90 for four years, Tyransky headed to Columbus after graduation in May 2018. The Chardon native served as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Otterbein University for the 2018-19 school year.

During the year-long stint with the Cardinals, Tyransky covered a wide range of sports. Tyransky kept stats, wrote recaps, managed social media, and helped to lead the department's student workers. Tyransky was an indispensable asset for the Cardinals.

After the year-long job concluded, Tyransky decided to move closer to home to be near friends and family, taking a sales gig at MFS Supply.

But Tyransky couldn't resist the urge to return to John Carroll, albeit in a part-time role.

"John Carroll Sports Information is a family atmosphere," said Tyransky. "Chris did a great job of making it a team effort. It never felt like work, it just felt like getting together with friends. I developed so many great relationships with my classmates, student-athletes, coaches, and administrators."

Beyond lending his sports information experience to the department for gamedays, Tyransky will be a key leader and role model for the Sports Information Department's student workers.

"I'm excited to give back to the students," said Tyransky. "I can relate to the students through my experience, and I hope to bring the most out of students by offering different opportunities and challenges to work through and grow. I'm also excited to work with the coaches again. There is a great consistency of staff, as most of the coaches I worked with three years ago are still here. John Carroll is a great place to be."

Tyransky will certainly be a welcome addition back to the department.

"I'm thrilled to have Ryan back in JCU Sports Information," said Sports Information Director Joe Ginley '16. "Ryan brings a great set of skills and experience, which will be invaluable to our department and our students. It's awesome to have another Wenzler Warrior in our office who will play a significant role in leading our students and covering the Blue Streaks."
