Women's Soccer Bested by Polar Bears in Ada

ADA, Ohio -- Playing the Polar Bears on the road in Ada is always difficult.

John Carroll Women's Soccer experienced that on Saturday against an Ohio Northern program that's dominated the Ohio Athletic Conference for years by winning an OAC title in five of the last six seasons.

The Blue Streaks suffered a 5-0 road defeat to the Polar Bears.

Ohio Northern got out to a fast start and never looked back. Jill Roberts scored just over seven minutes into the match, thanks in part to assists by Alyssa Beckett and Kylie Cabana. In the 27th minute, Beckett got a goal of her own, with the assist provided by Jane Reiring.

Just before half, the Polar Bears delivered a staggering blow to any JCU comeback efforts. Cienna Kuhn tallied her first goal of the year, with Reiring tagging on the assist again. JCU trailed at halftime, 3-0.

Two quick goals by ONU early in the second half ensured the hosts walked away happy. Alli Macbeth scored in the 58th minute off an Elizabeth Pierce. Less than a minute later, Kylie Brown found twine for the final margin of 5-0.

John Carroll mustered only two shots, neither on goal, compared to 24 by ONU, 14 on goal. JCU made 5 saves on the day.

Another difficult foe awaits on Wednesday, as the Blue Streaks will make another long trip to play a strong opponent at Otterbein.
