The Blue Streaks rolled to a conquest over Ohio Northern.
UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS -- The 2022-23 season began on a wonderful note on Saturday afternoon for John Carroll Men's Swimming & Diving.

The Blue Streaks started out the season with a packed crowd and amazing win over Ohio Northern University at Johnson Natatorium. The Blue Streaks took the meet with a score of 181-103.

The powerful swimming of the JCU men's team gave them an early lead that they held onto throughout the afternoon.

RESULTS

The Blue Streaks started out strong with a win in the first race, taking both first and second. Liam McDonnell, Jonah Venos, Owen Holm, and Michael Heller took first with a time of 1:33.36 in the 200 Medley Relay. Not far behind was Luke Novak, Joseph Nadur, Bryce Liddell, and Daniel Argalious with a time of 1:35.11.

The second race of the day was the longest with the 1000 Freestyle. JCU took second, fourth, and fifth in a very close race. Aidan O'Neill took second with a time of 10:28.20.

Joseph Nadur, took first in the 200 Free, 100 Breaststroke, and 200 IM to make a strong freshman debut. Within a second of Nadur's time in the 100 yard Breaststroke was Patrick Branch, who contributed a second place finish with a time of 1:00.44 behind Nadur's 59.93.

JCU also tallied a win in the 100 Backstroke with Jonathan Simoes and Luke Novak taking the cake. Simoes also nabbed first in the 200 Backstroke with another Blue Streak, Jacob Clark, right behind him in second place.

The freestyle swims were a strong point for the team, securing first in all but one of the events. Daniel Argalious won the 50 Free with a time of 21.52 followed immediately by Owen Holm with a time of 21.63. Holm also took second in the 100 Free led by Liam McDonnell finishing only half a second before.

The Blue Streaks finished strong with the 400 Free Relay, taking first and second place. Owen Holm, Patrick Branch, Jonah Venos, and Liam McDonnell came in first with a time of 3:11.62. With a time of 3:14.12, Bryce Liddell, Owen O'Neill, Daniel Argalious, and Michael Heller secured second place.

"Our season started out incredibly well," said Head Coach Tanner Barton. "Both the men and the women teams came out with high energy, and as a result, they swam fast."

"This was a total team effort. Everyone either swam or dove today and cheered on their teammates. What we did today could not have been done if we didn't come together as one."

The Blue Streaks will look to continue this momentum into the next meet on November 5 at Mount Union.
