Women's Basketball Sails Past Student Princes in Tiffin

TIFFIN, Ohio -- Playing a day earlier than anticipated didn't cause any issues for John Carroll Women's Basketball on Tuesday.

Facing off with Heidelberg a day earlier than scheduled due to impending Winter Storm Landon, the Blue Streaks fired out of the gates fast and never looked back.

The Blue Streaks sailed past the Student Princes, 105-71, never trailing in the game. The Blue Streaks advance to 16-2 on the year, 10-1 in Ohio Athletic Conference play.

Olivia Nagy scored the game's first points on a layup, assisted by Nicole Heffington. The duo kept the rolling, with help from Sarah Balfour and Kaelyn Underwood. By 3:54 mark of the opening quarter, the Blue Streaks had constructed a 22-3 lead.

Jaylen Hoffmann found her groove late in the first quarter, scoring 5 points in the final two minutes. With her help, JCU stood in front after one, 32-11.

An early Heffington jumper and a Hannah Bouchy 3-pointer kept the train rolling early in the second. By the midpoint of the quarter, John Carroll stretched the advantage to 49-22. Balfour continued to thrive and Hoffmann hit a late layup to set the score at 60-30 JCU at the break.

The third quarter belonged to Abby Adler. The grad student scored 7 points in the opening five minutes of the half, lifting JCU's lead to 78-36. The visitors stood ahead after three, 84-44.

Heidelberg slimmed the margin some in the fourth, but John Carroll walked away with a 105-71 win. John Carroll crossed the century mark for the seventh time in program history, the first time since notching 107 in November 26, 2016. The 105 points represent the third-highest total in program history.

The Blue Streaks now turn their attention to a tough Marietta squad. In the first matchup on December 18, JCU lost at home in a wild 81-80 affair. Saturday's tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
