COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Two very deserving Blue Streaks have been selected as the winners of the 2021-22 Clyde Lamb Award for John Carroll University.

Olivia Nagy is JCU's Female Clyde Lamb Award winner after an award-winning, record-breaking career with the Women's Basketball program. Jamie Dailey is JCU's Male Clyde Lamb Award winner as he completes an unbelievable career with Cross Country and Track & Field.

Nagy and Dailey join a who's who list of some of the most outstanding student-athletes in the lengthy history of John Carroll Athletics. For JCU, Dailey is the third-ever men's runner to win, and Nagy is the second-ever women's basketball player to win.

The Clyde Lamb Awards are presented to the top male and female scholar-athletes at each of the 10 Ohio Athletic Conference institutions. Lamb and Dailey were honored on Monday, May 16 at the OAC banquet.

Jamie Dailey

Over the course of his five years at John Carroll, Jamie Dailey became one of the program's most decorated distance runners in recent memory. His impact upon John Carroll Men's Cross Country and Track & Field is immeasurable.

Dailey's resume is filled with accolades and achievements. His career began on an auspicious note with OAC Cross Country and Track & Field Freshman of the Year honors. He continued to thrive in his sophomore and junior years, and then the pandemic hit in 2020.

While the COVID-19 pandemic robbed him of several seasons and chances to opportunities to shine on the national stage, Dailey worked his tail off to get ready for his moment.

Over the past calendar year, few have shined brighter than the Bay Village native. It began with another All-OAC honor during the 2021 indoor season, but he truly entered centerstage during the 2021 outdoor season. Dailey became an All-American in the 10,000m at the NCAA Division III National Championships. For some, that may have been the end of the road, but Dailey returned for a fifth year.

And in that bonus year, Dailey truly excelled. The Bay grad started off by leading the Blue Streaks to history, helping JCU capture the program's first OAC Cross Country Championship. And not long after, he steered the Blue Streaks to fourth place at the National Championships. In the process, he earned his first cross country All-American trophy.

Track season has also been his oyster. During indoor season, Dailey won his first OAC Championship with a PR effort in the 3000m (and also earned OAC Athlete of the Week status along the way). At Nationals, he continued his success with two All-American efforts in the 3k and 5k. Dailey isn't done yet, as he aided JCU in earning second at the OAC Outdoor Championships with two All-OAC efforts. He also ran the 16th fastest outdoor 10000m in NCAA Division III history (29:28) on April 15. He'll be racing at the 2022 NCAA D-III Outdoor Championships, too.

For his career, Dailey finishes as a 10-time All-OAC runner. Before the outdoor championships, he has six All-Region honors, three USTFCCCA Academic All-American honors, and four All-American trophies.

And Dailey's impact upon the community has been wonderful. He's served as a Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) team representative, a member of the Carroll Faith Community, and a member of John Carroll Sports Information (including one semester as an intern).

Jamie Dailey is the definition of a Wenzler Warrior. His impact upon the athletic community will not soon be forgotten. He's headed to the University of Cincinnati for graduate school, and the future is bright for him.

Olivia Nagy

There may never be an Olivia Nagy.

Not very often do you find a player so talented and dynamic that they rewrite entire portions of record books and do it with such grace and humility.

Olivia Nagy arrived at John Carroll in the fall of 2018 with plenty of potential after coming from Lakewood High School. From the moment she became part of the John Carroll Women's Basketball program, the Blue Streaks have done nothing but win.

During her freshman year, the Blue Streaks won 2019 OAC Tournament & Regular Season Championships. Nagy won the first-ever OAC Defensive Player of the Year award along the way. Her success continued into her sophomore season. She won the USBWA Division III National Player of the Week award, five OAC Player of the Week awards, and a pair of D3hoops.com Team of the Week spots. After the season, she snagged WBCA Honorable Mention All-American status, OAC Player of the Year & Defensive Player of the Year, and First Team All-OAC, and First Team All-Region.

Nagy's junior campaign saw the Blue Streaks achieve perfection, as John Carroll was unstoppable en route to 2021 OAC Tournament & Regular Season Championships. Despite a COVID-19 protracted season, she won WBCA Honorable Mention All-American, OAC Defensive Player of the Year, and OAC Tournament MVP.

Nagy went out with a bang during her senior year, steering the Blue Streaks back to the NCAA Tournament with an OAC Regular Season Championship. She again won WBCA Honorable Mention All-American, tallied D3hoops.com Third Team All-American status, garnered D3hoops.com First Team All-Great Lakes Region, and won OAC Player of the Year & Defensive Player of the Year.

That's quite a resume. In all, Nagy achieved unheard of feats. As a three-time All-American, three-time All-OAC, four-time OAC Defensive Player of the Year (the only to win the award), nine-time OAC Player of the Week, and two-time Helen Ludwig OAC Player of the Year. Pretty outstanding.

Nagy graduates with a bevy of program and conference records. She departs with program records for career blocks (366), career block average (4.1), career rebounds (952), career rebounding average (10.6), career defensive rebounds (657), career field goal percentage (.570), single season rebounds (382 in 2021-22), single season rebounding average (13.6 in 2021-22), single season defensive rebounds (288 in 2021-22), single season blocks shots (132 in 2019-20) single season blocks per game (4.7 in 2019-20), most blocks in a single game (11), and most rebounds in a single game (28), and triple doubles (3).

Her feats in the classroom as an accounting major with a 3.723 GPA also earned her plenty of honors. Most notably, she secured a spot on the 2022 CoSIDA Academic All-America 2nd Team.

Nagy is all set up for success after graduation, too. She will begin a job with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) as an accountant.   Criteria for the award includes at least two years participation in an OAC-sponsored sport, senior status, a minimum grade point average of 3.00 and sportsmanlike conduct in a manner that has brought credit to the student-athlete and his or her institution.
