Women's Cross Country Impresses at All-Ohio Twighlight

The Blue Streaks were the top Division III team on the leaderboard for the second straight year
CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- The John Carroll Women's Cross Country squad took home a top-five finish in the 5K under the lights Friday night in Cedarville, topping multiple NCAA Division I and II schools in the process.

Host Cedarville University took first place in the All-Ohio Collegiate XC Championships, with Dayton, Walsh, Findlay, and John Carroll rounding out the top five. The Blue Streaks were the top Division III team on the leaderboard for the second straight year, outpacing 14 peer schools.

Junior Erica Esper was the first Blue Streak across the line, taking 22nd place in 18:34.5. Senior Cameron Bujaucius placed 37th at 18:58.5. A trio of John Carroll runners pushed each other to the line in the top-50, including freshman Amanda Keim (43rd, 19:02.7), sophomore Morgan Edwards (19:03.0), and freshman Abby Schroff (45th, 19:03.2). 

Junior Jennifer Massucci recorded a time of 19:07.0, good for 52nd place, with sophomore Sarah Weldon rounding out the scoring with a 19:18.9 in 62nd place. 

All seven scorers placed in the top-14 among Division III runners, with Esper (4th), Bujaucius (6th), Keim (7th), Edwards (8th), and Schroff (9th) in the top-10. 

Up next for JCU is a trip to East Lansing, Michigan on Saturday, October 1. The Blue Streaks will take part in the Pre-Nationals Invite on the Forest Akers East Golf Course.
