Jimmy Kartsonas was a busy man at Wittenberg.
John Carroll Men's Track & Field headed to several different locations this weekend.

Of course, Alex Phillip journeyed to Boston to secure another NCAA Division III record on Friday. Also on Friday, the Blue Streaks sent a small contingent to Youngstown State for the 2023 YSU Mid-Major Invitational.

On Saturday, most of the team headed to Wittenberg for the Steemer Showcase. The Blue Streaks' throwers, under the direction of the one-and-only Vince Minniti, headed across town to Baldwin Wallace.

Here's how the Blue Streaks fared this weekend.

YSU Mid-Major Invite
A total of 7 Blue Streaks competed in Youngstown on Friday, and five of them were in the 1000m.

Mike Hvizdos guided the JCU quintet with a time of 2:33.96 for fifth. Ian Paul hung close with a time of 2:34.57 for seventh. Then, it was Jacob Gerhardt (2:37.13, 11th), Joe Scherer (2:39.12, 16th), and Owen Roberts (2:47.22, 25th) rounding things out.

Two Men of Carroll ran in the 5000m. Ryan Champa conquered the 5k in 15:28.55 for 16th, while Dominic Delmoro clipped a time of 15:30.13.

Wittenberg's Steemer Showcase
John Shoemaker stood out in the early action for the Blue & Gold. The Westerville native tallied a PR of 4:18.45 for third place. Matt Costanzo followed in eighth at 4:24.18.

Jimmy Kartsonas had a busy day for JCU. His best leap of 6.80m in the long jump, achieved on his first attempt, earned him second place. He also notched seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 13.00m (also on his first hop). He finished fifth in the 60m finals, as well, with a time of 7.11. His talented teammate, Corey Minton, thrived in the triple jump, with a mark of 14.23m, good for second.

Caleb Correia achieved a PR in the 800m for JCU, snagging third in the process. His time of 1:52.22 is an indication of more good things to come for the Toledo native.

JCU competed in the 1000m in waves on Saturday, too. Max Grillo won the day with a time of 2:32.63. Michael Shipman followed closely in second at 2:35.47. Evan Piscitani (2:41.07, 4th) and Ryan Kiley (3:00.07) also took part.

Garrett Clark knocked off the rust in the 200m, running the event for the first time this season. He finished second with a time of 22.07, second only to Centre's JP Vaught, last year's national champ in the event. Basheer Alramahi (22.75, 8th) and Mick Doyle (22.80, 10th) also finished in the top 10.

Later in the day, Ethan Domitrovich thrived. The junior set a PR with a time of 8:26.05, good for fourth place. Tommy Naiman joined him in the top 10, tabbing a ninth-place finish of 8:39.39.

BW's Dr. Taraschke Team Challenge
Zach Szafarski notched a pair of fourth-place finishes for the Blue Streaks. He hefted a toss of 14.29m in the shot put and a length of 15.29m in the weight throw.

Also in the shot, Noah Schroeder achieved a personal best with a toss of 13.41m for sixth. He tabbed 13.73m in the WT for seventh.
