Women's Track & Field Earns Solid Results Across Several Meets

| By:
Rosie Murray posted a nice time in the 400m.
John Carroll Women's Track & Field headed to several different locations this weekend.

On Friday, the Blue Streaks sent a small contingent to Youngstown State for the 2023 YSU Mid-Major Invitational.

On Saturday, the majority of the team headed to Wittenberg for the Steemer Showcase. The Blue Streaks' throwers, under the leadership of veteran coach Vince Minniti, headed across town to Baldwin Wallace.

Here's how the Blue Streaks fared this weekend.

YSU Mid-Major Invite
Claire Eberhardt made the trip worth it for the Blue Streaks with a dynamic effort in the 500m.

The Massillon native won the day in the event for the Blue Streaks, roaring for a time of 1:19.75. While not a school record, the junior came close, as she was less than a second off. Eberhardt's record from last year could be in danger soon.

A quartet of Blue Streaks took part in the 1000m. Amanda Keim led the way, topping the JCU pack with a time of 3:07.29. Morgan Edwards followed milliseconds later at 3:07.38. Sydney Wingler rounded out the 4-5-6 finish with a time of 3:09.40. Rounding out JCU's contingent was Morgan Dobos in 10th at 3:12.24.

Wittenberg's Steemer Showcase
Saturday opened with some nice PRs for the Blue Streaks.

Morgan Edwards led JCU's pack in the 5000m, tallying a time of 18:40.46 for a new personal best and third place. Amanda Keim followed in fourth just after at 18:40.52. Sarah Weldon clocked in at 18:54.59 for seventh.

Sticking with the distance events, Claire Eberhardt ran the mile for the first time in indoor, finishing with a time of 5:13.50 for 11th. Jen Massucci (5:21.48) and Ellie Kitsmiller (5:27.38) also took part.

Later in the day, Erica Esper made more noise. The senior set a PR in the 3000m, crossing the line in 10:12.59. Abby Schroff also impressed, following her in sixth place with a time of 10:19.47.

In the sprints, Genevieve Arnold shined, as per usual. She crossed the finish line in fifth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.65. She did the trick in the jumps, too. The Orchard Park native won the triple jump, with a best mark of 5.42m. She'd take fourth in the triple jump, as well, with a hop of 10.74m. Victoria Miller (10.41m, 7th), Olivia Stefka (10.09m, 8th), and Massey Andrykovitch (9.88m, 9th) also achieved top-10 marks.

Rosie Murray thrived in the 400m, knocking off 3 seconds from earlier this season with a time of 1:01.11 for eighth.

JCU had a nice contingent in the 1000m. Katy Fellenstein led the pack in fourth place at 3:10.41. Cassie Klein (3:12.67, 5th) and Kathryn Vasiliauskas (3:20.31, 9th) also made the top 10.

BW's Dr. Taraschke Team Challenge
Caroline Beery re-set her own record in the pole vault, hitting 3.56m (11' 8") for the Blue Streaks. As she starts to get going this season, she'll continue to be a dangerous asset for the Blue & Gold.

Kelsey Dunn finished sixth in the weight throw with a distance of 14.33m.

Meanwhile, Brooklyn Beekford has improved at every meet so far, achieving a new PR of 11.24m in the shot put for sixth.
