WEST LAFAYETTE, Ohio – Eight of the Ohio Athletic Conference's ten teams spent the weekend at the familiar confines of River Greens Golf Course this weekend.

The OAC Fall Preview, a 2-day and 36-hole event, afforded the conference's golfers the opportunity to get to know each other in West Lafayette. In a fairly closely contested tournament for the majority of the teams, John Carroll Men's Golf looked good.

The Blue Streaks finished in third with a final team tally of 608. John Carroll recorded a round of 309 on Saturday and a mark of 299 on Sunday. Otterbein took home the team title at 588 and the Cardinals' "B" team took second at 606.

RESULTS

Zach Brinks helmed the John Carroll effort this weekend. The St. Xavier grad opened the weekend with a 1-under-par 71 in impressive fashion on Day 1. The senior earned birdies on the 12th, 14th, and 16th holes for the Blue Streaks, with a 3-under-par 33 on the back nine. Brinks stood alone atop the leaderboard on Saturday. The team leader scuffled on the front nine on Sunday before he rallied in the back nine. Brinks hit par from the ninth through 18th holes, staying even-keeled. Despite the strong finish, Brinks could not obtain medalist honors, settling for a tie for second with a final mark of 148.

Jack Gerborg opened the tournament with a score of 78, highlighted by a birdie on the 1st hole. On Sunday, the youngster looked amazing on the front nine, with a birdie to start and then carding a par from the second through ninth holes. A couple bogeys threatened to throw him off track, but Gerborg got birdies on the 15th and 17th holes to finish strong. He finished with a 1-over-par 73, compiling a 151 for the weekend to tie for 10th.

Kamden Mowry kicked things off with an 83 on Saturday. His Sunday effort was much better. The freshman carded a 1-over-par 73 for the day. An eagle concluded the front nine on the difficult par-5, 537-yard 9th hole. Mowry finished strong with birdies on the final two holes. For the tournament, he logged a 156.

Like Mowry, Jacob Hazen opened to a slow start on Saturday with a score of 83. But on Sunday, the veteran caught fire. The Dublin, Ohio native fired up an even-par 36 on the front nine, with birdies on the third, sixth, and eighth holes. His back nine was solid but not as spectacular, to finish with a 4-over-par 76 for JCU's final score. That gave him a two-day total of 159.

London Hoyser experienced ups-and-downs on Saturday. He finished with a 5-over-par 77 overall, but enjoyed some very promising moments. The freshman notched an eagle on the par-5 8th hole, a 507-yard challenge. A birdie on the 12th hole also stood out. On Sunday, Hoyser completed the weekend with a score of 82, to finish at 159, tying with Hazen.

Austin Malley (77-74-151), Grant Lumley (75-79-154), and Carson Meyer (75-81-156) all competed as individuals for the Blue Streaks. Malley finished in a tie for 10th with Gerborg while Lumley tied for 24th.

John Carroll will not rest much, as the Blue Streaks are back in action on Monday for the annual John DiCillo Memorial Invitational at Sand Ridge Golf Course in Chardon.
