UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS -- High school football is returning to Don Shula Stadium.

John Carroll Athletics is pleased to announce a partnership with Cleveland's Benedictine High School, as Don Shula Stadium will host the Bengals on Friday nights in the fall of 2024.

The Bengals will play 6 home games at Shula Stadium on Fridays next fall.

"We are excited to announce our partnership with Benedictine High School Athletics and have Shula Stadium serve as the home of Benedictine football in the fall of 2024," said JCU's Director of Athletics Brian Polian '97. "It is very important to our University and to our department that we serve as good partners with the high schools in Northeast Ohio. This agreement serves as a wonderful first step in that direction. JCU is proud to be hosting Bengal football on Friday nights this fall!"

John Carroll Football is littered with successful Bengals. The legendary quarterback Larry Wanke is one of the foremost, with recent stars Marshall Howell and Conner Bogard also amongst the success stories of Benedictine alumni thriving in University Heights.

The Bengals have a long-standing tradition of excellence in football. The Bengals have won 8 OHSAA Championships (1957, 1973, 1980, 1981, 1996, 2003, 2004, 2014), tallied one state runner-up finish, made 11 Final Four appearances, and have appeared in the playoffs 24 times.

John Carter, Athletic Director for Benedictine High School, also shared his excitement about the new home field.

"The collaboration with John Carroll will greatly benefit our players, coaches, and community," said Carter. "Accessing a top-tier stadium will significantly elevate our fans overall experience on gameday. Additionally, this opportunity will allow our student-athletes and opponents to experience the hidden gem of John Carroll University."
