The John Carroll throwers are peaking at the right time.
In the last weekend before the Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, the Blue Streaks competed in two Friday meets.

John Carroll Men's Track & Field took part in the Silverston Invite at the University of Michigan, but most of the squad took a quick trip to Case Western Reserve University for the Ed Finnigan Greater Cleveland Colleges Invite.

Here's how it went for JCU.

Silverston Invite at Michigan
Corey Minton built on a successful season with a nice tune-up effort in the triple jump. The veteran marked a jump of 14.09m, finishing third.

John Carroll had a nice contingent in the 200m. Leading the way like usual was Garrett Clark. The star came oh so close to his overall best in the 200n, racing to a time of 21.63 for second place. However, it was his best indoor time of his career! Basheer Alramahi continues his breakout campaign with a time of 22.08 for fourth.

Dustin Horner (23.11, 6th), Victor Ononogbo (23.11, 9th), and Mick Doyle (23.24, 12th) rounded out the JCU contingent.

The strong efforts by John Carroll's throwers continued today at Case. Matthew Russo tabbed a PR by hurling a mark of 15.12m in the weight throw. Noah Schroeder finished just behind with an outstanding PR toss of 14.60m. Alec Gorman tabbed 12.05m for 10th.

Russo then won the day in the shot put with a mark of 15.09m. Schroeder also excelled with a tally of 13.35m for third.

Jimmy Kartsonas took the cake in the long jump, hopping to a distance of 6.84m, very close to a PR. Daylen Glaze showed plenty of promise today in the event, as well, with a marvelous leap of 6.50m,

Later, Kartsonas brought home the bacon in the 60m, speeding to first place with an indoor PR of 6.97. The 400m also saw a piece of good news for JCU, as Cam Klauke returned from injury to run a 54.27, finishing in seventh.

In the 200m later in the evening, Brody Hanlon tapped a time of 23.39 for second place.

John Carroll corralled a 1-2-3 sweep in the 500m. Max Grillo topped the pack with a season-best time for JCU in the event: 1:07.94. Ian Paul (1:08.32) and Owen Roberts (1:10.80) completed the sweep at the top of the standings.

The Blue Streaks were also well-represented in the 800m, with Evan Piscitani guiding the wolfpack. The Rootstown native won the event with a time of 2:00.65. Matt Costanzo trailed close behind with a third-place time of 2:01.25. Mike Shipman (2:03.30) and James Johnson (2:07.26) also tabbed top-10 times.

Ethan Domitrovich (2:33.69) and John Shoemaker (2:34.27) formed a formidable duo in the 1000m, earning first and second places. Jacob Gerhardt (2:39.69, 5th), Joe Scherer (2:43.69, 6th), and Sam Holt (2:46.38, 7th) also repped JCU.

As one might expect, the Blue Streaks got the job done on the distance side of things.

In the mile, Dominic Delmoro (4:20.63), Matt Costanzo (4:20.76), and Joe Backus (4:23.77) occupied the top three standings in the results. In the 3000m, Backus led the JCU pack with a fifth-place time of 9:33.27.

And now, the real fun begins, as the Blue Streaks travel to Berea next weekend for the OAC Championships.
