| By:
The Blue Streaks are looking good entering the OAC Championships.
In the final weekend before the Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, the Blue Streaks competed in two Friday meets.

John Carroll Women's Track & Field took part in the Silverston Invite at the University of Michigan, but the vast majority of the squad took a quick trip to Case Western Reserve University for the Ed Finnigan Greater Cleveland Colleges Invite.

Here's how it went for JCU.

Silverston Invite at Michigan
Taylor Anthony was John Carroll's lone representative in Michigan. The senior star almost set a PR in the 60m, finishing 11th with a time of 7.87.

Starting with the field events, the Blue Streaks absolutely dominated the long jump. Genevieve Arnold topped the pack with a winning leap of 5.29m. Michaela Bryan and Victoria Miller claimed silver and bronze with respective leaps of 4.83m and 4.81m. Olivia Stefka (4.65m) and Ella Zambruno (4.53m) rounded out the rare 1-2-3-4-5 finish for the Blue Streaks.

Brooklyn Beckford led the charge in the weight throw, with a sixth-place mark of 13.70m. Kelsey Dunn also finished top-10 with a throw of 13.15m. Dunn also managed a top-10 effort in the shot put by tallying eighth with a toss of 10.62m.

The JCU jumpers were also out in full force in the triple jump, led by Arnold finishing fourth (10.88m) and Miller tabbing fifth (10.55m).

As per usual, Caroline Beery did her thing in the pole vault. She won the event with a height of 3.45m. Meredith Glavach  and Leah Fritsch each cleared 3.15m.

In the sprints, Rosie Murray took part in the 60m dash for the first time in her young career and excelled. She won the event with a time of 8.16 in the finals. Mia Scott followed in second place in 8.27. Kaleigh McNamara and Massey Andrykovitch rounded out the pack with times of 8.45 and 8.50 for sixth and eighth, respectively.

In the 200m, Mia Scott (27.80) and Ellie Kitsmiller (27.91) scored points for JCU with fifth and sixth-place finishes.

Morgan Dobos is another young bright spot for JCU. The freshman topped the field in the 500m, dashing to a time of 1:23.39 for first. Later in the 800m, Katy Fellenstein also shined with a time of 2:26.32 for fifth.

The Blue Streaks owned the 1000m today. Claire Eberhardt set the new season-best for JCU with a winning time of 3:02.09. Ellie Kitsmiller (3:02.52) and Abby Schroff (3:03.00) completed the sweep in the first three spots. Sydney Wingler (3:08.46) and Kathryn Vasiliauskas (3:24.22) grabbed fifth and sixth.

As is to be expected, the Blue & Gold rolled in the distance events.

In the mile, Amanda Keim (5:20.55), Morgan Edwards (5:24.71), Jen Massucci (5:27.07), and Sarah Weldon (5:27.43) snagged the top four spots for plentiful points. In the 3000m, JCU took spots two through six, thanks to efforts by Brooke Butler (11:26.03), Massucci (11:31.83), Keim (11:31.90), Edwards (11:32.19), and Schroff (11:32.40).

After winning this week's meet, the Blue Streaks are ready to roll for the OAC Championships. The fun begins next Friday at Baldwin Wallace.
