Four All-OAC Efforts Lead To Second Place Standing After First Day of OAC Indoor Championships

BEREA, Ohio – Four All-Ohio Athletic Conference performances helped guide the Blue Streaks to a second place standing after Day 1 of the OAC Indoor Track & Field Championships at Baldwin Wallace's Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse.

Genevieve Arnold, who competed at NCAA Indoor Championships last year, earned a second place finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.50m.  This also marked the junior's first All-OAC performance in the indoor championships in her career. 

Claire Eberhardt also earned All-OAC honors in the 500m by finishing third with a time of 1:19.00.  Rosie Murray (1:21.60) finished in seventh, while Morgan Dobos (1:23.04) just missed scoring by ending in ninth.

JCU had a strong contingent in the 5000m with four runners scoring, while Erica Esper got her first career All-OAC award in indoor by leading the way with a third place showing (18:09.71).  Amanda Keim (18:10.10) ended behind Esper in fourth, and Morgan Edwards (18:23.98) and Jennifer Massucci (18:25.17) rounded out the scoring with seventh and eighth place finishes.

The final All-OAC grouping was the Distance Medley Relay squad of Katy Fellenstein, Dobos, Sydney Wingler, and Abby Schroff who took third with a 12:26.51 mark. 

In the 400m, Ellie Kitsmiller placed fourth with a time of 1:00.71 while Kaleigh McNamara finished in tenth (1:03.46) to round out the running events.

Other scorers in the field events included Caroline Beery in the pole vault (sixth, 3.41m) and Kelsey Dunn in the weight throw (fifth, 14.53m).  Brooklyn Beckford (13th, 12.86m) and Cara Jewett (14th, 12.73m) finished in the top half of the weight throw as well.

John Carroll will look to close out the OAC Championships on a high note on Saturday, February 25 with field events starting at 10:00 AM and running events at 2:30 PM.
