Steinwachs & Hamilton Tabbed to CSC Academic All-District Swimming & Diving Team

Gwyneth Hamilton and Catherine Steinwachs have been critical contributors in the pool and in the classroom, and have recognized as such by College Sports Communicators. 
UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – The John Carroll Women's Swimming and Diving team had a remarkable season, finishing the year with a 6-2 dual meet record and their seventh straight Ohio Athletic Conference Championship. 

The Blue Streaks dominated the competition, showing their unwavering grit and determination every step of the way.

The Blue Streaks did not just make an impact in the pool, as both Catherine Steinwachs and Gwyneth Hamilton have earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selections. Academic All-District selections are awarded to student-athletes who have shown great performances both in their sport and inside the classroom. 

The senior from Sarasota, Florida, Catherine Steinwachs, has been phenomenal throughout her four years at John Carroll. Steinwachs was the 2021 and 2023 OAC Women's Diver of the Year. Steinwachs has been an OAC Champion in the 3M Dive in 2020, 2021, and 2023, plus a 1M champion in 2020, 2021, and 2023. 

Inside the classroom, Steinwachs holds a 3.85 GPA while majoring in Psychology, making a big mark on the program. 

Senior Gwyneth Hamilton has been one of the most talented swimmers in the OAC during her time as a Blue Streak. Hamilton is a two-time OAC record holder in both the 800 Freestyle Relay  (7:46.20) and the 400 Free Relay (3:30.57), also holding the record in the 200 Free Relay (1:36.14). The Uniontown, PA native won four OAC titles this season, five crowns as a junior, and four championships as a sophomore. 

Academically, Hamilton holds a 3.96 GPA and is majoring in Cell and Molecular Biology. Hamilton has been a huge part of the team's success the past four years, and has made her mark on the program.
