Women's Tennis Stays Unbeaten in OAC Play with Road Win over Capital

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Weather moved Saturday's match indoors for John Carroll and Capital. But the Blue Streaks made the most of the trip down I-71, roaring past the Comets.

John Carroll Women's Tennis secured a 7-2 victory over Capital at Scarborough Tennis Club.

With the win, the Blue Streaks advance to 3-0 on the year in Ohio Athletic Conference play.

The tone was set early, as the Blue Streaks took two of three doubles matches. Mia Zivkovic and Felicity Kolb cruised to victory with an 8-1 W at #1 doubles. Kaylyn Gimbel and Caroline Chandler also notched a key win at #2 doubles, 8-2 (our apologies for the incorrect line score at #2). JCU fell in #3 doubles but still held sway entering singles.

Caroline Chandler worked quickest at #4 singles, firing up a 6-0, 6-0 win. Capital won #2 singles next, narrowing the gap to 3-2. But then Gimbel provided a hard-won 6-4, 6-3 win at #3 singles to send Cap to the brink. Jacyln Voss then finalized the victory with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph at #5 singles.

Peyton Crumpler helped ice the cake with a near-flawless 6-1, 6-0 win at #6 singles. And finally, Zivkovic kept her excellent campaign going with a rock-solid 6-2, 6-3 victory at #1 singles.

After this win, the Blue Streaks have a huge match on the horizon. The Polar Bears of Ohio Northern will come to town on Monday. Ohio Northern handed John Carroll a heartbreaking loss in the OAC Tournament Semifinal last year, and so the Blue Streaks will have revenge on their minds.
