Lindy Brobeck Joins Women's Lacrosse Coaching Staff

Brobeck is no stranger to the OAC after a 4-year career at Marietta and serving as the OAC's SAAC representative to the NCAA.
UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – A formal opponent is the newest member of the John Carroll Women's Lacrosse coaching staff.

The new assistant is the first hire for first-year Head Coach Kelsey Shewbridge '18G. The newcomer comes from a fellow Ohio Athletic Conference school, too.

Lindy Brobeck has joined the JCU coaching staff following four years playing at Marietta College.

"I am thrilled to remain in the OAC. I love the OAC, it's a wonderful conference," said Brobeck. "John Carroll is a great school academically and athletically. I liked the talent here, and I'm excited to help Kelsey harness the talent in place."

A 4-year letterwinner at Marietta, Brobeck played attack for the Pioneers. She played in 50 games across her career, which began during the COVID-shortened 2020 campaign. Brobeck started 15 games, including 7 contests last season. She compiled 23 goals and 15 assists for a total of 38 points, along with 30 groundballs and 6 draw controls.

In addition to playing last season, Brobeck also aided the team as a coaching intern. Her duties included working through pregame day operations, jersey output, equipment check-ins; photography and graphic design; and scouting and opponent reports.

"I am excited to have Lindy join the Blue Streak family," said Shewbridge. "She brings knowledge of the conference and a strong, uplifting energy that's contagious. Her enthusiasm and commitment to our program were evident from the beginning, and we'll see success this year with her addition."

Off the field, Brobeck showcased excellent leadership skills at Marietta, too. The Pickerington, Ohio native served as President of Marietta's and the OAC's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). In addition, she served as a delegate on the NCAA's SAAC team. Brobeck was an active voice for student-athletes on a national level in these roles. She graduated with a degree in Educational Studies in May 2023.

"The OAC is fantastic, the camaraderie throughout the conference and the high standard of coaching sets the OAC apart," said Brobeck. "I loved my well-rounded experience as a D3 student-athlete, and I want to help JCU student-athletes enjoy that full experience, too."

Professionally, Brobeck obtained some excellent experience during her collegiate career. She worked as a Development Intern at Ronald McDonald House Charities in the summer of 2022, and also worked for four years as a Sales Associates at Fabletics.

Back to her work on the field, Brobeck is excited to bring her skillset to the table to help build upon a strong foundation in place at JCU Women's Lacrosse.
"I walk into JCU very excited knowing that we can do very well," said Brobceck. "My goals include making it past the OAC Semifinal and hopefully winning an OAC Championship. I'm excited to work with Kelsey, who's been an assistant for a while and is hungry for success. During the interview process, I could tell Kelsey had faith in what I could do, and I can't wait to be a part of this program."

Brobeck is grateful for this opportunity and the journey itself, too.

"I want to especially thank my family as well as my college coach, Malory Nadrah," said Brobeck. "I also want to thank my coaches growing up, who helped me hold onto the love of lacrosse when I was figuring things out. I'm incredibly thankful to them for pushing me and reminding me that this sport is fun and should be fun."
