Blue Streaks Take Big Step Coming Off Another Meet Weekend At Kent State And Mount Union

The women were back in action for two different meets this past weekend. On Friday and Saturday, a small contingent traveled to the Doug Raymond National Qualifier at Kent State, while most of the team competed at the Jim Wuske Invitational at Mount Union.

Senior Genevieve Arnold kicked off the day at Kent State for the women, placing third place in the long jump, leaping 5.48 meters on day 1. Following up the long jump, Morgan Edwards and Annie Higgins made an appearance in the 5000m run. Edwards ended up in fifth place with a final time of 18:48.01, and Higgins right behind finishing up in sixth place with a time of 18:49.34. In the jumps, Tori Miller posted a top ten finish in the women's triple jump with a mark of 10.84 meters to earn sixth in the event. 

Moving into Saturday, Sophomore Abby Schroff made her 2024 campaign in the women's 3000 meter run placing third overall with a time of 10:20.25. Earning sixth was Sarah Weldon who posted a PR of 10:32.26 in the race. Finishing up the day, Claire Eberhardt and Ellie Kitsmiller put up respectable performances in the 800m. The junior duo finished back to back, resulting in third and fourth place finishes. Eberhardt took third place with a time of 2:16.01, and Kitsmiller in fourth with a final time of 2:16.78, which was a personal indoor record by five seconds. 

At the Jim Wuske Invitational hosted by Mount Union, Mia Scott ran in four races over the weekend competing in the 400, 200, and the 60 meter prelim and final. In the 60 meter dash, she placed ninth overall in the prelim with a time of 8.21 seconds, followed by 1:04.57 in the 400, which was a personal record, and 27.91 seconds in the 200. 

In the throws, Cara Jewett placed a high mark of 13.57 meters in the women's weight throw placing sixth overall at the meet, making this a personal record for her. 

The women will be in action again next weekend as they look to continue to build off of these meets heading into the Dan Kinsey Invite in Oberlin, and the Ashland Alumni Open in Ashland.
