Ben Day Crowned OAC Defensive Athlete of the Week

WESTERVILLE – An agent of chaos is the latest Ohio Athletic Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week.

The Blue Streaks' front seven wreaked havoc on the road at Muskingum on Saturday, keeping the Fighting Muskies out of the end zone until very late in the ballgame. JCU's emerging star at defensive end helped power that effort.

Ben Day is the OAC's Defensive Athlete of the Week.

The Brecksville native is the second straight Blue Streak to win the award after Davon Badley snagged the honor last week. Day is deserving of the honor, as his statline and impact on the game show.

The junior lineman proved to be a consistent presence in the Muskingum backfield. Day registered 5 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 tackles for loss, and 3 passes defensed in a banner day for the first-year starter.

Thanks in part to Day's efforts, John Carroll limited Muskingum to just 0.7 yards per carry. The Brecksville Broadview Heights grad has had a hand in a TFL each game, now up to five total for the season. Day also has 16 total tackles and 3 sacks on the campaign.

Day and the Blue Streaks are back in action on Saturday, hosting Capital for the Shamrock Game at 1:30 pm at Don Shula Stadium.
