The Blue Streaks notched a 2-2 record in a busy day of wrestling

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – It was a busy but happy Sunday for John Carroll Women's Wrestling.

The Blue Streaks hosted the 2024 JCU Women's Wrestling Duals, welcoming seven other teams to the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center.

John Carroll notched a 2-2 record, enjoying a very solid day of wrestling at home. JCU defeated Waynesburg (30-9) and Mount Union (23-14), and lost to Hiram (25-25, TB 2-0) and D'Youville (28-9).

The day opened with a great showing for John Carroll against Waynesburg. Jordan Palmer's dominant 10-0 tech fall at 145 highlighted the 30-9 conquest.

Against Hiram, the Blue Streaks traded forfeits with the Terriers. But the difference was a pair of pin wins for the Terriers. While Hiram and JCU tied the team points at 25-25, the tiebreaker was Hiram's 2 falls to JCU's 0.

D'Youville largely cruised in its 28-9 victory, but JCU did have a nice highlight. Bella Cyrkiel notched a narrow 3-2 decision victory, one of two wins for JCU in the contest.

To wrap up the day, the Blue Streaks competed against the Purple Raiders in women's wrestling for the first time ever. Meredith Milligan, Emily Leeseberg, and Sumayyah Kemp got the ball rolling with back-to-back-to-back victories via pin in the first period. Mount Union narrowed the deficit to 15-9 to make it a contest, but then Talia Mitchell's forfeit win clinched the contest. Bella Cyrkiel provided a nice exclamation point with a 5-0 decision at 180.
