Riley Duffey notched some nice wins for the Blue Streaks

SANDUSKY, Ohio – With finals over and done, John Carroll Women's Wrestling got back to the mats on Saturday.

The Blue Streaks took part in the Berg Holiday Duals at Cedar Point Sports Center in Sandusky, notching a 1-4 record.

John Carroll bested Alfred State, and dropped losses to Mount Union, Tiffin, Otterbein, and West Liberty.

Riley Duffey notched a 10-0 tech fall victory at 124 in a solid start for the Blue Streaks. But three straight losses dropped JCU to a 20-11 hole. Talia Mitchell helped the Blue Streaks get closer with a quick pin at 180, but it was not enough to avoid a defeat. And so, the Purple Raiders won the rematch after JCU bested Mount Union on November 24 at the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center.

Alfred State built a slight 12-6 lead before the Blue Streaks caught fire. Delaney Burns (138), Jordan Palmer (145), and Talia Mitchell (180) notched back-to-back-to-back pins to do the damage. John Carroll ran away with it in a dominant conquest, which turned out to be the lone win of the day for the Blue & Gold.

Tiffin: 30, John Carroll: 12
Results

Tiffin quickly constructed an 18-0 lead to take command. While Duffey notched a big pin win at 124, this match belonged to the Dragons. However, Palmer did notch a victory via a first-period pin at 145 in a nice bright spot.

Otterbein: 25, John Carroll: 24
Results

This contest was a tale of two halves. The Cardinals raced out a big lead, picking up two forfeits and two falls to start. The Blue Streaks paid no mind to the big deficit, though. Delaney Burns got JCU on the board with a 10-0 tech fall at 131. John Carroll then picked up four forfeit wins. But the Cardinals finished things out by getting a forfeit win at 207 for the narrow victory.

West Liberty: 52, John Carroll: 6
Results

Duffey's strong day continued as the Sunbury native earned another win. The first-year tallied a win by pin, giving JCU its final highlight of the day amidst a defeat to the Division II foe.
