The JCU quartet paved the way in the classroom and on the court for JCU Volleyball this year

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – Four John Carroll Volleyball players have been recognized for their performances on the court and their work in the classroom this season.

The balance it takes to excel in both fields is the true mark of a student-athlete, and all four showcase this skill in spades.

Abby Bednar, Kendra Dziubinski, Jessica Liddle, and Hailey Williams earned the honor of Academic All-District from the College Sports Communicators.

Abby Bednar earns another feather in her 2024 season cap, as the achievement of Academic All-District is the latest in her season achievements. In addition to this latest honor, Bednar achieved First Team All Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC), OAC All-Tournament Team, AVCA All Region team, and an AVCA All-America Honorable Mention.

Bednar is coming off one of the most dominant seasons in recent memory for the Blue Streaks. She led John Carroll and was second in the OAC with 363 kills and did it with a .281 hitting percentage. This was the most in a single Blue Streak season since Cassi Calamunci in 2022. Bednar also chipped in 62 blocks and 93 digs on the defensive end to put a bow in a stellar season.

Off the volleyball court, Bednar is a Graduate Student studying Clinical Mental Health Counseling. As an undergrad student, Bednar was recognized on the Dean's List four times and was named to the Commissioner's Honor roll.

Jessica Liddle performed at a high level this season while leading the team as a captain. The captain was named as an All-OAC Honorable Mention this season as she accumulated 118 kills with an efficient .272 hitting percentage. This efficiency, along with 1.26 kills per set, made the senior an offensive force in the middle of John Carroll's offensive attack.

Liddle has shined in the classroom in her four years at John Carroll. The senior wealth management major is on track to graduate next spring and work at a reputable financial firm and start her career.

Kendra Dziubinski was a key contributor this season as a middle hitter for the Blue Streaks. The junior led the team and was fourth in the OAC with 95 blocks and was fifth on the Blue Streaks in kills.

Dziubinski is a political science major and is on track to graduate in the spring of 2026. The captain helped to lead the team this season.

Hailey Williams led the Streaks on the court with her steady play on the outside pin and was second on the team in kills last season with 208 kills. The outside hitter also tallied 23 service aces, third on the team, and was second on the team in digs with 261. A strong season all around for the sophomore sensation.

Williams has been doing steller in her studies in John Carroll's prestigious  Boler College of Business. She's on track to graduate in 2027 with a degree in accountancy.
