Women's Tennis Defeated by Ashland in Second Spring Match

John Carroll faced a Division II challenger indoors on Saturday.
Box Score WOOSTER, Ohio – In a battle with a tough Division II foe, John Carroll Women's Tennis tasted defeat on Saturday afternoon.

The Blue Streaks lost a 7-0 match to the Ashland Eagles at Aspen Racquet Club in Wooster.

John Carroll drops to 0-2 on the young season with the loss.

Doubles play produced three defeats for JCU. Madeline Kavenagh and Sarah Sgambati lost a 6-1 match at #1, Evelyn Deren and Felicity Kolb dropped a 6-3 contest at #2, and veterans Peyton Crumpler and Kayley Gimbel fell at #3, 6-1.

Singles play also did not yield any conquests as JCU faced tough tests up and down the lineup. 

Kavenagh (6-2, 6-0) and Sgambati (6-1, 6-0) accepted defeats at #1 and #2 singles. Deren fought for a 6-3, 6-1 defeat at #3. Kolb's #4 match was also close, 6-4, 6-3.

Gimbel (6-3, 6-4) and Caroline Chandler (6-1, 6-1) succumbed to Ashland foes at #5 and 36.
