AKRON, Ohio – Just the start you wanted to see if you're a Blue Streak.

John Carroll Women's Swimming & Diving strolled to the front of the pack at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium.

John Carroll stands in first with 282 points. University of Mount Union sits in second with 234 points.

The evening began with a dominating effort by JCU. Mairin Dalziel, Abby Zablotny, Kaitlyn Hilty, and Anna Glass did strong work. The Streak quartet combined to win the event with style, clocking in at 1:38.77.

In the 500 Free, Marina Sneyd and Hannah Smith took fifth and sixth.

Olivia Goodman cooked up a victory in the 200 Individual Medley. The sophomore soared for a time of 2:09.16 to win the day. Regan Gunzy, Hilty, and Annamarie Habusta tabbed 5-7-8 in a points frenzy for JCU.

The Blue Streaks showed out in the 50 Free with two more All-OAC performances and three swimmers finishing in the top four. Dalziel secured All-OAC honors with a first place finish and a time of 23.99.

Abby Zablotny touched the wall right after Dalziel, grabbing second place and All-OAC honors for the Blue Streaks. Glass once again proved to be reliable in this event. She finished in fourth place, just over half a second away from a medal spot.

In the 400 Yard Medley, the relay team of Lauren Koppelmann, Goodman, Grace Roberts and Dalziel certainly lived up to the hype. They finished well-ahead of the competition with an All-OAC time of 3:57.32, over 10 seconds faster than their prelim time.

The action continues with prelims on Friday morning at 10 am followed by finals at 6 pm.
