Women's Swimming & Diving in Driver's Seat After Day 3 of OAC Championships

It was all smiles for the Blue Streaks on Friday in Akron. 
AKRON -- With one day left at the 2024 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships, John Carroll Women's Swimming & Diving is in full control of its destiny.

The Blue Streaks are well ahead of the competition with 595 points after Day 3, ahead of Mount Union (489).

John Carroll notched three victories to cement the team's status atop the rankings. 

The Blue Streaks continued their win streak as Lauren Koppelmann, Olivia Goodman, Grace Roberts, and Mairin Dalziel dominated in the 200 Medley Relay, ending with a time of 1:49:04.

The first individual event of the session pushed JCU further into 1st place as Olivia Goodman became the back-to-back champion in the 400 IM with a time of 4:33.97, followed by Marina Sneyd with a third place time of 4:46:35 and Audrey Prisby in sixth place.

Roberts locked up a first place finish in the 100 Butterfly, ending the event with a 58:67. In fifth-place, Bella Genise finished with a 1:01:61.

The Blue Streaks carried through the 200 Freestyle with impressive finishes from three swimmers. Mairin Dalziel put up a time of 1:56.30 and a second-place finish while continuing to lead the Blue Streaks. Anna Glass took sixth with a 2:01.86 right behind freshman Hannah Smith with a 2:01.43.  

Regan Gunzy put up a good fight for second place in the 100 Breaststroke, out-touching her competition by 0.91 and clocking in a personal best of 1:07.97.  Kaitlyn Hilty also put up a personal best time with a 1:10.55 and a sixth-place finish for JCU.

Koppelmann, by a millisecond, came in second place in the 100 Backstroke with a 1:00:56. Right behind Koppelmann, Annamarie Habusta finished in fourth with a time of 1:01:85, while Audrey Pisby joined the two at the podium in the seventh-place slot.

In the 3 Meter diving, junior Emily Gelske led the way for the Blue Streaks in fourth-place and 309.95 point finish. Sarah Roehrs helped the streaks extend their lead with a fifth-place finish, tallying 280.45 points. 

Day 4 of the OAC Championships start at 10 am for prelims, continue on with senior recognition, and conclude with the final session at 5:45 pm.
