NEW CONCORD, Ohio - First place finishes from Abby Schroff, Genevieve Arnold, and the Women's Distance Medley Relay would propel the Blue Streaks to a strong day 1 effort at the 2024 OAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Muskingum University at the Bullock Health & Wellness Complex.

The women ended day 1 scoring 54 points and currently behind the Purple Raiders of Mount Union, who are winning the meet with a score of 74 points, followed by the Polar Bears of Ohio Northern with 68 points.

Coming out of the gate and getting things started for the Blue Streaks was senior Genevieve Arnold. She would win the long jump with a mark of 5.71 meters, recording a personal best and breaking the school record in the event. Arnold is now seventh in the country after posting that mark as well. In the weight throw, sophomore Sarah Hart (14.41 meters) and senior Cara Jewett (14.12 meters) would place sixth and eighth respectively, collecting major points for the Blue Streaks.

The running events got started with junior Ellie Kitsmiller earning All-OAC honors in the 500 meter dash, placing third overall with a time of 1:17.42, earning a personal best. Claire Eberhardt wouldn't be too far behind as she would place fourth with a time of 1:17.91 also recording a personal best. Both would break the previous school record. Genevieve Arnold later returned for the 60 meter dash and hurdles race prelims and would advance in both of her events, placing herself in the top 2. Junior Mia Scott would also qualify for the finals in the 60 meter dash, crossing the finish line with a time of 8.03 seconds, earning a personal best. In the 5000 meter run, sophomore Abby Schroff wins her first ever OAC title, running a time of 18:07.48. Morgan Edwards (18:36.43) and Sarah Weldon (18:43.75) collected a combined total of seven points to add to Schroff's win, earning fifth and sixth place finishes.

The women continued to fight and kept their success rolling as the Distance Medley Relay of Alyssa Vis, Kaleigh McNamara, Kelsey Sheridan, and Annie Higgins would achieve the OAC title in the event with a time of 12:29.16. A phenomenal ending for the women as they earn back-to-back wins for the team.
