Blue Streaks Earn Third Place Finish At OAC Indoor Championships, Highlighted By Arnold’s Field Athlete Of The Meet Accolade

NEW CONCORD, Ohio - After posting stellar efforts from day one, the Blue Streaks continued their momentum into day two securing numerous personal bests, All-OAC finishes, and a few victories. 

Final Results

The John Carroll women's track & field team took third place, scoring 148 points at the 2024 OAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Muskingum University at the Bullock Health & Wellness Complex. 

Mount Union would go on to win their third straight OAC title scoring 199 points, followed by Ohio Northern securing a second place finish scoring 166 points. 

The field events would get rolling first as freshman Sara Gennuso would earn a personal best and place eighth in the high jump with a mark of 1.53 meters. 

Genevieve Arnold would pick up where she left off as she would add another All-OAC accolade to the weekend. She would earn a runner up finish with a mark of 11.44 meters. Also scoring for the Blue Streaks was Tori Miller, who earned All-OAC honors with a mark of 10.96 meters, placing third. Sara Gennuso wouldn't be too far behind as she would place eighth overall with a mark of 10.66 meters. 

The running events would roll as the 4 x 200 meter relay consisting of Mia Scott, Rosie Murray, Kaleigh McNamara, and Sara Gennuso would place fourth overall crossing the finish line with a time of 1:50.09.

Next up would be the mile as Annie Higgins and Alyssa Vis would both place in the top 8 to score for the Blue Streaks. Higgins earned a fifth place finish overall, clocking in at 5:14.98, a personal best and Vis would finish eighth overall with a time of 5:20.20 also earning a personal best this indoor season. 

Genevieve Arnold would return for the 60 meter hurdles as she would earn a runner up finish with a time of 9.11 seconds, a personal best to add to her resume. Arnold would then come back a few minutes later for the 60 meter dash, where she placed third with a time of 7.78 seconds, earning another All-OAC accolade. Mia Scott would score for the Blue Streaks as she crossed the finish with a time of 8.14 seconds. 

The dynamic duo of Ellie Kitsmiller and Claire Eberhardt would come back for the 800 meters placing third and fourth overall, only split by .02 seconds. Kitsmiller clocked in at 2:16.19 and Eberhardt finished 2:16.21. 

In a bounce back effort from the mile, Annie Higgins would go on to win the 1000 meter run with a time of 3:02.09 to earn her first ever OAC title for JCU. Freshman Kelsey Sheridan would place third overall adding her second All-OAC accolade from the weekend with a time of 3:04.10. These were personal bests from both women. 

In her final event, Genevieve Arnold would score in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.47 seconds placing fifth overall. 

The 3000 meter run would be the last distance event of the meet as Abby Schroff would continue to fight, posting a second place effort with a time of 10:25.71 earning her second All-OAC accolade of the weekend. Morgan Edwards would go on to finish fourth overall with a time of 10:31.68 to add to the Blue Streaks scoring. 

The 4 x 400 meter relay consisting of Rosie Murray, Ellie Kitsmiller, Kaleigh McNamara, and Sara Gennuso placed third overall with a time of 4:10.05 to conclude the weekend for JCU. 

After all of her efforts in numerous events and collecting All-OAC honors in four events, Genevieve Arnold has won the OAC Field Athlete of the Meet. 

The Blue Streaks will be back in action next week at the Mount Union Last Chance Meet in Alliance, Ohio as they prepare for the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships in two weeks.
