Women's Golf Braves the Cold for the Mount Union Invitational

The Blue Streaks posted a consistent effort across the board despite the cold.
ALLIANCE – After putting on several layers, John Carroll Women's Golf braved the cold on Sunday.

The Blue Streaks gritted out the frigid conditions at Tannenhauf Golf Club for the first action in Northeast Ohio this spring for the Mount Union Invitational.

John Carroll finished in fourth place with a team score of 360.

RESULTS

The word of the day for the Blue Streaks? Consistent. The women of Missy Gedeon stayed calm and collected all day, showcasing endurance on a course that played extra long because it was cold and wet.

The other storyline was a true team effort on Sunday, with three Blue Streaks tying for the top score, which was an 89.

Anna Schramko has helmed the ship as a leader, and steered a good course for JCU. The senior star carded a 45 on the front nine before finishing well with a 44 on the final nine holes for the Magnificat grad 89. It was a great round for the pride of JCU Sports Information.

Amanda Pancake was even as ever for JCU. The Columbus native experienced an identical split as Schramko, as Pancake notched a 45 on the front nine and a 44 on the back nine. Indeed a nice start to spring in Northeast Ohio.

Isabella Mineo experienced some hard holes on the front nine, but played phenomenal down the stretch. The Kent native opened with a 47 on the front nine but her back nice was an awesome 42, totalying 89.

Colleen Vredenburg wrapped up things for the Blue Streaks. The junior – who also works as an  Athletics Operations & Compliance Intern – opened with a 45 and finished the back nine with a 49. The New Yorker carded a 94 for the day.

The Blue Streaks will have a bit of time before the next competition after Easter. JCU is back in action on Sunday, April 7 at the Hiram Invitational at Tanglewood in Chagrin Falls.
