JCU BLUE RECAP

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Julia Gulla is just simply unstoppable.

Every obstacle placed in front of the first year is promptly overcome, as the rookie continues to guide the way for the Blue Streaks.

Gulla won a one-hole playoff to capture medalist honors yet again for the Blue Streaks. Thanks in part to her strong effort at the Jeff Roope Invitational, the Blue Streaks secured fourth place.

Springfield Country Club can certainly be challenging to a golfer teeing off for the first time on it. Considering she did not have any previous experience on the course, Gulla's effort is nothing short of exceptional.

The Sagamore Hills native opened the tournament with a 77 (+5), carding a total of three birdies, including on the par-5 No. 2 and No. 12 holes. Gulla could not recreate the same magic on Tuesday, with the birdies evaporating. But while she avoided too many bogeys, Wittenberg's Addie Yarbrough caught up to her, erasing a four stroke deficit as Gulla nabbed a 79 while Yarbrough roared for a 79.

And so set up a one-hole playoff. In trademark fashion, Gulla used her strong short game to putt in the winning shot and claim her fifth medalist trophy of her John Carroll career.

Not a bad way to finish off the first semester of your freshman year.

Alexandra Yaeger and Kyah Huckleberry each took turns putting in nice shots. The fellow first years tied for 18th with identical final scores of 178. Yaeger finished with a line of 93-85-178 and Huckleberry snagged a line of 88-90-178.

Erin McCaffrey provided the final scorers with efforts of 99 and 98. Lauren Roof rounded things out for the Blue Streaks.

John Carroll tallied a final score of 357-352-709.

JCU GOLD RECAP

HINCKLEY, Ohio – The Blue Streaks traveled to Pine Hills Golf Club.to round out their season in the Baldwin Wallace Fall Shootout on Monday. The Blue Streaks' Gold Team competed against the likes of their old Conference opponents, finishing fourth out of five teams.

Even with nice performances from first years Hannah Prince and Meredith Thompson, the Blue Streaks still landed just outside a podium spot, finishing fourth. JCU finished with a cumulative score of 366.

Results

Hannah Prince has been a bright spot for the Blue Streaks this year. The rookie led the Blue Streaks alongside teammate Meredith Thompson, notching tallies of 87 throughout the tournament. With a +15 on the day, the first year found herself tied for 6th out of 22 players, a respectable placement for a young athlete.

However, Hannah Prince wasn't lonely in her spot on the leaderboard this past Monday. Her fellow teammate Meredith Thompson shot the same, scoring 87, with a +15 on the day. Thompson sharing the sixth-place spot with Prince is a promising look for the Blue Streaks, indicating that the two will continue to develop and grow alongside each other for years to come.

Irena Steffas finished 13th on the day, with a total score of 95. In similar fashion, Freshman Madison Maxwell finished in 14th, just 2 strokes behind Steffas.

Amanda Millis, the senior from Sandusky, was in a battle for 16th. Ultimately, Millis held on and tied for the placement with a clean score of 100 on the day.
