Non-conference play on the road is not always easy, but the Blue Streaks made it look that way on Sunday.

Walt Oden's crew captured an 8-1 victory over the Allegheny Gators at the Tennis Courts at Robertson. With the win, JCU advances to 5-5 on the season.

Doubles play set the tone for a dominant day for John Carroll. Madeline Kavenagh and Evelyn Deren combined for an 8-4 crown at the No. 1 doubles spot. Felicity Kolb and Sarah Sgambati teamed up for a clear 8-0 W at No. 2. Kayley Gimbel and Caroline Chandler finished the job at No. 3.

Kavenagh continued a major weekend at the No. 1 singles spot, helming the effort with a 7-5, 6-2 victory. Kolb also needed to do some work to get her win at No. 4, 6-4, 7-6 (5).

The most busy court might have been No. 3 singles, with Sgambati surviving a three-set showdown, with a final of 2-6, 6-3, 6-1.

Gimbel (6-4, 6-1) and Chandler (6-0, 6-0) showcased dominance at the No. 5 and 6 spots, respectively.

The lone loss occurred at No. 2, as Deren dropped a war by the score of 6-4, 5-7, 6-10 in the type of match that will prepare you for the playoffs later on.

The Blue Streaks' next scheduled match is slated for Saturday, April 6. JCU will head to Capital for an OAC contest.
