Men's Tennis Loses Match to Mercyhurst During S.C. Trip

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – In the penultimate match of the spring break trip, John Carroll Men's Tennis dropped a sweep.

The Division II Mercyhurst Lakers proved too much to handle, as the Blue Streaks lost a 9-0 contest. 

JCU stands at 1-5 overall with one more match left to play in the South Carolina spring break trip.

Anthony Markello and Luis Wentz experienced the closest doubles battle at the No. 3 spot on Wednesday. The JCU stars dropped an 8-4 contest to the Lakers, who won all three doubles matches.

Logan Langovsky nearly stole set one of his No. 1 singles bout, but dropped eventually, 7-5. The second set also went to his opponent, 6-3. Grant Sarnowski tasted defeat despite a fierce fight in a 6-3, 6-3 final at No. 2. Phillip Gorun was upended despite a large surge at No. 4, 6-0, 6-3.

The last match on the slate for spring break is on Friday, as John Carroll takes on Eastern Nazarene College in an 11:30 am start.
