Box Score BEREA - In the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Tournament Quarterfinal, the John Carroll Women's Lacrosse season came to an end, falling 17-12 to cross-town rival Baldwin Wallace.
The Yellow Jackets put together a 9-0 run spanning from the second period through the entire third which was too much for JCU to overcome.
The first quarter was a back and forth battle, as JCU would own a 5-4 edge. Olivia Hanulak dominated, scoring three goals while having a beautiful assist to a cutting Riley Knapp. JCU's defense was stout in the first stanza, causing six Yellow Jacket turnovers.
Clare Alic of Baldwin Wallace was a major factor, totaling six goals in the first half. Alic's sixth goal gave BW their first lead at 9-8 with 4:22 left in the first half.
Heading into the locker room, JCU trailed 10-8, as BW held the advantage in total shots, 18-15. Hanulak led the Blue and Gold with four points, while Knapp found the back of the net two times.
The Yellow Jackets came out scorching in the third period, outsourcing JCU 6-0.
Knapp ended the scoring drought one minute into the fourth quarter, as Lauren Schwartz earned her third assist. The freshman Knapp would tally two more goals and an assist, but it was too little, too late.
The Blue and Gold finished the season 7-8 in Kelsey Shebridge's first year at the helm, there is a lot to be proud of and a strong cast set to return next season.
