The Blue Streaks stood in front for some of the day, and are hanging around well so far.
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ohio – It's still early. But you can call Friday a solid success for John Carroll Women's Golf.

The Blue Streaks had later tee times, but spent much of the day above the leaderboard on Day 1 of the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at River Greens.

At the conclusion of the 27-hole opening day, the Blue Streaks stand in fifth place.

RESULTS

Amanda Pancake stood as the team's leader on the opening day. The Columbus native enjoyed a highlight in the early going with a birdie on the No. 6 hole, a 488-yard par-5. After a four-over-par front nine, the junior stayed strong on the back nine, with five straight par holes to tally a 79 (+7) for her first round. She started the last nine with a birdie on No. 1, and ended with a five-over par. Pancake is currently tied for seventh.

Isabella Mineo began and ended her opening round with birdies. The junior notched an 85 for her first 18 holes. Her final nine holes were filled with pars, as seven out of nine holes were even. Mineo carries a two-over-par into the second round, to be concluded tomorrow.

Anna Schramko and Jennifer Crowley each finished with a 91 for the first 18 holes. Schramko's last nine holes were highlighted by a very nice birdie on the par-3 No. 5 hole. She'll take a 45 into the second day. Crowley is just one stroke behind her with a 46 thus far in Round 2.

The Blue Streaks will keep grinding tomorrow, with another whopper of a day. Twenty-seven more holes await JCU at River Greens. Only one stroke separates JCU from fourth place, while sixth-place Capital is 23 strokes back of JCU.
