Blue Streaks Fall On The Road To Ohio Wesleyan In Saturday Night Matchup

DELAWARE, Ohio - Another road matchup for the Blue Streaks this evening would not go their way.

The women's soccer team came into tonight looking for a bounce back win after coming off a late loss to Misericordia this past Sunday, September 8th.

In the second half of the match, the Blue Streaks would allow two goals in the second half against the Battling Bishops to drop their second straight loss on the road.

A header in the 61st minute would allow Ohio Wesleyan to gain that momentum as they would add another goal not long after in the 68th minute of play.

It was a back and forth contest in the first half for both JCU and OWU as they traded on shots and possessions that pressured both teams to find the ball in the back of the net.

As the second half began, both sides were able to make more adjustments at the beginning. A header from the Bishops would break the scoreless tie to put them ahead from a perfect assist from her teammate.

The Blue Streaks continued to fight through every possession, but still couldn't find a rhythm throughout as the Bishops tallied another goal minutes after to put them up by two goals, set up by Jordyn Adams, who recorded her second assist of the match.

Leading for the Blue Streaks in shots were Emily Patrzyk with three and Emma West recording four total. Sophomore Madeline Martin would tally eight saves total throughout the game.

OWU had the advantage, recording 18 total shots against JCU's 10 throughout the whole match, creating those plays in the second half to keep the pressure on the Blue Streaks.

JCU will look to get back in the win column this Wednesday, September 18th as they travel to Westminster for a 7:30 pm matchup on the road. They will have their home opener on Saturday, September 21st against Mount St. Joseph University at Don Shula Stadium for senior day.
