Women's Swimming & Diving Eases Past Heidelberg

The Blue Streaks returned to action with a road OAC win

TIFFIN – In the first meet of 2025, John Carroll Women's Swimming & Diving notched a dominant victory. 

The Blue Streaks headed to Heidelberg University, and returned home with a 151-36 victory in Ohio Athletic Conference action.

Many of the team's young swimmers got the chance to compete against a similarly youthful Heidelberg team. 

Results

The day began with a dominant win in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:54.60. Audrey Sevald, Kaitlyn Hilty, JJ Gowetski, and Bree Shirkey did the job. 

The 1000 Free opened the individual events, and Ella Muzychak won by a wide margin with a top time of 11:24.03. In the shorter 200 Free, Jenna Fetsko and Sophia Noecker competed to a near-photo finish. Fetsko eked out a win with a time of 2:07.71, followed closely by Noecker in 2:07.81.

Shirkey soon tallied another victory in the 50 Free, tallying a time of 25.42. Shortly after, Sevald clinched a win in the 200 IM, timing at 2:19.40. The Akron native later won again in the 200 Back at 2:14.65. Taylor Hudson tallied a nice win for the first-year in the 100 Free, touching the wall at 59.01. 

Gabby Adamczyk took care of business in the 200 Fly, besting her teammates with a time of 2:15.20. In the 500 Free, led by Adamczyk (5:37.17), John Carroll notched a 1-2-3 sweep, with Gabby Melin and Madeline Jarosz rounding things out. 

In the final individual event, the 200 Breaststroke, Hilty got on the board with a time of 2:41.57. And then to finish things off, the Blue Streaks breezed to a win in the 400 Free Relay. Shirkey, Grace Roberts, Fetsko, and Noecker combined for a victorious time of 3:53.28.

Next Up
John Carroll will head to crosstown rival and Ohio Athletic Conference foe Baldwin Wallace on Friday, January 25. And then on Saturday, the Blue Streaks will host Senior Day. John Carroll will welcome Wilmington to the Johnson Natatorium.
