Frazier is just the third JCU Men's Basketball player to make the list

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – For all of the team success of John Carroll Men's Basketball over the last three decades, individual honors sometimes elude the Blue Streaks.

Case in point, D3hoops.com has been selecting its Team of the Week since January 1998, but only two Blue Streaks had made the cut.

Today, Luke Frazier makes it three. The senior guard earned a selection to the D3hoops Team of the Week for January 13-19.

Frazier played a lead role in helping the Blue Streaks upend two of the three teams that entered the week tied for first in the Ohio Athletic Conference standings. John Carroll bested Heidelberg University at home, 77-70, and bested Muskingum University on the road, 91-64.

The Mentor native led all scorers by pouring in 21 points against the Student Princes. Frazier added to his impressive statline with 8 assists and 7 rebounds in a fantastic showing at home.

Frazier followed it up with a strong all-around effort against the Fighting Muskies. The veteran enjoyed his first double-double of the year, registering 18 points and 12 rebounds, plus five assists.

For the season as a whole, the preseason All-American is scoring in bunches, averaging 16.9 points per game. That ranks third in the OAC.

And looking at his career stats, Frazier is climbing the ranks in program history. The senior stands tall with 1,225 points, up to 15th in program history. His 17.3 points per game is currently 10th all-time. Frazier's 30.7 minutes per game rates fourth.

Frazier joins Brandon Mimes (Week of November 20-26, 2007) and Jackson Sartain (Week of November 5-14, 2021) as JCU Men's Basketball players to earn the D3hoops honor.

Frazier and the Blue Streaks have an important week ahead with a pair of games, both on the road. First, John Carroll will head to Berea on Wednesday to confront Baldwin Wallace in a rivalry showdown. Then, JCU starts the second round of OAC play, with a chance at avenging an early-season loss to Ohio Northern.
