Annie Meunier highlighted the weekend by breaking a 23-year diving record

The Blue Streaks enjoyed quite the productive weekend. 

John Carroll Women's Swimming & Diving concluded the regular season with back-to-back Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet victories.

In Berea, John Carroll fired out to a win over Baldwin Wallace on Friday evening, and then at home on Saturday, the Blue Streaks enjoyed a victory over Wilmington to commemorate Senior Day.

BEREA – As John Carroll gets set to depart the conference, the Blue Streaks head out with 19 straight wins over rival Baldwin Wallace. 

Results

One of the top highlights of the weekend was Annie Meunier's record-shattering day. The star senior recorded a score of 452.25 on the 1 Meter Board, besting a 23-year-old record previously held by Stephanie Turner. The Hall of Famer made history as a National Champion and stands as one of the best divers in school history. So for Meunier, this is a high honor. 

The diving results were highlighted by a second-place effort by on the 1 Meter board with a score of 191.40.

The Blue Streaks started fast and didn't look back. With the opening 200 Medley Relay, JCU made a statement with a nearly 3-second win. Audrey Sevald, Olivia Goodman, JJ Gowetski, and Bree Shirkey combined for a winning time of 1:52.85. 

Things slowed down some with the lengthy 1000 Free, but Ella Muzychak took care of business with a winning time of 11:10.97. The Magnificat product did a similarly strong job in the 500 Free, winning by over 10 seconds with a time of 5:29.68. 

Mairin Dalziel kept JCU winning with a mark of 1:58.09 in the 200 Free. The Royal Oak, Michigan native later added another victory in the 100 Free, touching the wall in 53.98. 

Shirkey showed out well in the 50 Free, climbing to a top time of 25.06. Relay mate Olivia Goodman took a turn winning, grabbing first in the 400 IM at 4:53.15, while Marina Sneyd followed in second. Goodman grabbed another win in the 200 Breaststroke, clocking in at 2:34.83, followed by Regan Gunzy and Kaitlyn Hilty. 

Gabrielle Adamczyk fired up a nice time in the 200 Fly, picking up first place in 2:13.40. Sevald added another win for the first years, cruising to a conquest of 2:11.79 in the 200 Back. 

To wrap things up for the night, JCU rolled in the 200 Free Relay. Gowetski, Hilty, Sophia Noecker, and Mairin Dalziel combined for the top time of 1:43.86.

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – Ending the regular season at home with Senior Day proved to be fitting for the Blue Streaks. John Carroll fired to a clear win over the Quakers in the final OAC dual meet ever for the Streaks. 

Results

After an emotional senior parade, John Carroll kicked things off with a winning 200 Medley Relay. Audrey Sevald, Mairin Dalziel, JJ Gowetski, and Bree Shirkey started things on a good note, with a time of 1:51.41, nearly six seconds better than the second placers. 

For starters in the 1000 Free, Ella Muzychak continued her strong first-year campaign. The Avon Lake native tallied a winning time of 11:16.19. Gabriella Melin and Maddie Jarosz tabbed second and third. In the 500 Free, Melin took a turn getting the W, cruising to first in 5:32.40, followed by Muzychak this time. 

Shirkey soon got on the board with a win in the 200 Free, as the first-year clocked in at 2:00.54, followed by Gowetski and Goodman. 

Sevald scored an individual victory in the 100 Back, clocking in at 1:00.78. Taylor Hudson and Lauren Koppelmann finished off the 1-2-3 sweep. Sevald, Hudson, and Koppelmann repeated the feat in the 200 Back in the same order. 

Kaitlyn Hilty notched a nice win in the 100 Breaststroke, tabbing a win with a time of 1:12.92, followed closely by Regan Gunzy. Olivia Goodman picked up a victory in the 200 Breast, touching the wall in 2:34.77. Hilty scrolled to second in the event. 

Mairin Dalziel did her usual wonderful work in the sprints. The Royal Oak, MI native won the 50 Free with a mark of 24.16 and then clocked in at 53.26 to conquer the 100 Free. Hudson and Fetsko followed in the 50 Free. Shirkey and Jenna Fetsko did the honors of completing the top-three sweep in the 100 Free. 

Gowetski picked up a pair of wins to complete the individual events. The star first-year swimmer tallied the victory in the 100 Fly with a mark of 1:00.76, followed by Adamczyk and Sevald. Then, the Pennsylvanian nabbed a time of 2:18.05 in the 200 IM, with Goodman grabbing second. 

Adamczyk took a turn finishing atop the leaderboard in the 200 Fly, coasting to a winning time of 2:21.47. Marina Sneyd and Hannah Smith completed the triumvirate sweep. 

To cap off the day, the Blue Streaks stood atop the standings in the 200 Free Relay. Shirkey, Sophia Noecker, Jenna Fetsko, and Dalziel picked up the win with a time of 1:42.86.

John Carroll will now prepare for the final run in the OAC, the 2025 OAC Championships at the University of Akron from February 12-15.
